Report: The GOP Itself Is The Problem

The Modern Republican Party

The Republican National Committee is voting today to censure Reps. Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney for investigating the Stupid Coup, you know that insurrection that tried to stop the electoral college vote-count on January 6, 2021 and overthrow the gubmint to install that orange-headed hate goblin to be our dictator for life.

“We’ve had two members engage in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens who engaged in legitimate political discourse.”  —Rona (definitely not Romney, no-way!) McDaniel in the WaPo.

Read that again and let it sink in: according to the RNC, trying to overthrow democracy is legitimate political discourse.

The RNC resolution comes as we learn that twice-impeached LOSER ex-Prznit Stupid:

  • schemed to submit fake slates of electors
  • tried to have the NSA/military/DHS seize voting machines in swing states he lost
  • said that he would pardon the capitol rioters if (Dawg forbid) he ever becomes prznint again

The RNC isn’t censuring Trump for any of these probably illegal and definitely anti-American/democratic attempts to overthrow the government. The RNC is going after the only two Republicans standing up for democracy.

We’ve said it before: Republicans hate America, they hate democracy, and they hate us. This is straight-up fascism.

Axios has a related story, and as always it is anonymously sourced so take it with some salt, but… (emphasis theirs along with the weird formatting and bullets)

Paths to power and winning elections inside the GOP are changing rapidly and radically, spawning a new generation of kingmakers while diminishing the clout of many who lorded over the party for years.

Why it matters: Fourteen of the Republican Party’s top consultants and operatives across the country spoke in detail with Axios about how profoundly primary races have changed since 2014 — the last pre-Donald Trump midterm election and the last midterms in which a Democrat occupied the White House.

What we found: Those sources — whose clients range from as Trumpy as they come to establishment Republicans — described a clear shift in the party’s power brokers. They spoke of changes to the ecosystem across four categories: institutional upheaval, endorsements, conservative media and donors.

  • Axios granted them anonymity so they could speak with a degree of candor that’s not possible on the record because of personal and business relationships. Here’s what they told us:

It’s not THAT surprising, really, but here we go (note the past tense):

Who had the power:

  • The U.S. Chamber of Commerce
  • The NRA
  • The Koch network
  • Heritage Action
  • The Drudge Report
  • National Review
  • Conservative movement groups such as Tea Party Express, FreedomWorks, and the Senate Conservatives Fund.

So… who has the power now?

Who has power now:

  • Donald Trump
  • Tucker Carlson
  • Family and former aides to Trump
  • Fox News
  • Club for Growth
  • Daily Wire
  • Breitbart News
  • Online influencers including Candace Owens, Ben Shapiro, Dan Bongino, Joe Rogan, Jack Posobiec, Charlie Kirk and Marjorie Taylor-Greene.
  • Steve Bannon
  • Susan B. Anthony List

The article goes on for quite a lot longer, and though fast reading, you should probably read it there (if you are so inclined). It confirms what we suspected:

The Republican Party is the problem. The Republican Party is the damn insurrection.

  1. Now the only question left is…how many voters are all-in on this insanity?

      How many voters? Too many.
Not a practical answer, I realize, but once the lemming has gone over the cliff there’s no going back. So how do you determine if the lemming you are facing is pre- or post-cliff edge?

A very loud and emboldened minority of middle-class whites whose reality is the fear-mongering shit that they’ve been fed a steady diet of for way too long, but never forcefully challenged on. A group that could be successfully defeated as long as democratic leadership (most of whom saw victories through clintonian centrism in the ‘90’s) stopped their outreach to those groups who live and work in the suburbs while ignoring the needs of the actual working classes which AA women comprise a majority of their once reliable voting base.

I may have posted this cartoon before, but it’s a brilliant explanation of the insanity of the GQP. So, I’ll post it again…

I suppose the plague is partly to blame. It is a double-edged sword. It both fuels their hatred and kills them like flies. And what if the flies that are currently being killed are the smart ones?? Yikes.
