What Are They Smoking At Politico?

Well, this won’t happen during President Handsome Joe Biden’s administration if ever:

If Roberts believes the court is above bipartisanship, Harris writes, he “could join [Justice STEPHEN] BREYER in announcing his retirement at the end of the court’s term this summer. This surprising act would be most likely to advance what the Chief Justice says he wants — a revival of public faith in the Court’s institutional legitimacy, and that its rulings flow from something other than the personal agendas of individual justices or the partisan machinations that placed them in their jobs.”

I hope John Harris brought enough of whatever he’s smoking to share with the rest of the class.

I believe Bilbo was the only possessor of The One Ring to ever willingly give it up.

Galadriel was offered the One Ring by Frodo, and declined. Does that count?

Without the histrionics in the movie, BTW. Jackson has a weird thing about the wimmins.

She declined it, but then, she never possessed it in the first place, thus it didn’t have a hold on her (and besides, she had her own ring, just not the One Ring). Bilbo is the only person, to my knowledge, that had possession of the One Ring but was (barely) able to let it go. Not even Frodo was able to do that, and he held out longer than most.

(And yeah, histrionics, but I never read the books and still have no interest in doing so, to be honest. Fantasy was never one of my interests, but I do like the movies, so I’m not exactly one of those “frothing-at-the-mouth purists.” 😉)

I dunno, Ten, sounds more like Harris is asking what Roberts is smoking if he expects anyone who isn’t already deep into the koolaid to believe his claim of – what is he claiming exactly?

If Roberts believes the court is above bipartisanship

Isn’t that claiming that the courts are nakedly partisan, but cloaked in fancy language so the rubes can pretend to be fooled?
Well, this comment took a turn.

Sounds like a hit job to me. The low information people will see the negative comment about Roberts and the name “Harris” and assign them to the VP.

    Yeah it’s CT.
