The NYTimes reports that Hair Füror

…was more directly involved than previously known in exploring proposals to use his national security agencies to seize voting machines as he grasped unsuccessfully for evidence of fraud that would help him reverse his defeat in the 2020 election.

The existence of proposals to use at least three federal departments to assist Mr. Trump’s attempt to stay in power has been publicly known. The proposals involving the Defense Department and the Department of Homeland Security were codified by advisers in the form of draft executive orders.

But the new accounts provide fresh insight into how the former president considered and to some degree pushed the plans, which would have taken the United States into uncharted territory by using federal authority to seize control of the voting systems run by states on baseless grounds of widespread voting fraud.

CNN confirms

Former President Donald Trump’s advisers drafted two versions of an executive order to seize voting machines — one directing the Department of Defense to do so and another the Department of Homeland Security — as part of a broader effort to undermine the 2020 election results.

The idea of using the federal government to access voting machines in states that Trump lost was the brainchild of retired Col. Phil Waldron and retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Trump’s former national security adviser.

It really is a slow-moving coup

Christ, the DoJ had better ramp up its efforts to prosecute the ring leaders. I don’t care if a MAGA uprising occurs, that just means more assholes in prison.

Personally, I love it when our failed political press breathlessly tells us about something that happened more than a year ago.

He’s got “his” people so stirred up that for the first time ever I can see Rwanda catching up with the country. I hope I’m wrong, but I am concerned. On the plus side, we (the sane people) outnumber the coup coup birds by a lot…

    • Yeah we do, but you wouldn’t believe that according to the media. The crazies really do think they’re the huge majority, because their media is constantly telling them so, and the rest of the media is addicted to telling their story at the expense of everyone else in the country.

It’s like all the stories about book banning and subject restriction in classrooms. Because the white supremacists make for better stories we’re not hearing that any parents are against doing these things to their kids.

We’re watching tiny minorities of people imposing their beliefs on everyone else at gunpoint. (figurative or literal, as the case may be) and the fucking media just sashays along collecting the clicks and bothsidesing it because they don’t live in those places.
