The 2024 Goat Rodeo Begins

Der Tiger Beat auf dem Potomac (Thanks Charlie with an assist from MPS patron saint Watertiger) morning email thingie breathlessly tells us:
If the election were held today, Biden would lose badly to a generic Republican, 46% to 37%. The unnamed Republican candidate would carry 41% of independent voters, vs. just 21% for Biden.
We want to remind everyone that President Handsome Joe Biden won’t be running agains a generic Republican.
So what about a head-to-head with an actual fascist? You have to look at the survey itself:
It’s not much, but up against each of the actual fascists, he wins.
Yes many ‘Republican-but-ashamed-to-admit-it-in-public’ “independents” will gladly vote for their imaginary sane, normal ‘Republican’ they imagine in their fantasies, like the Good ‘Ol days of Tip-n-Ronnie.
To bad those candidates don’t exist and even if they did, would not make it past the first primary…
Hell…I doubt that Ronnie would make it through the primaries now.

Pfft. Generic republicans went extinct in the ’90s. In fact, I was out arrowhead hunting the other day and found a fossil of a generic republican. I left it where I found it since they’re worthless.

They were fossils before they went extinct.

“Generic Republican” = somebody who hates the same people you do.

Is there any other kind of “Republican” these days?
Ah, not really.

Very sad. Here we go and elect a Democrat and a nice guy at that, and then we stab him in the back and have the nerve to pontify on how poorly he is doing.
We are not doing any good with bitching at him.
And how come no one thinks to censor Manchin for his republican ways?
Tired of being this close to winning but still losing every battle.

If those polls are to be believed, the margin of error is there for morally bankrupt republicans to claim victory and as we have seen over the last year, certain red states are more than willing to throw out any results that show a democrat winning.
Democratic leadership needs to wake up and realize that the neo-liberal, pro-corporate status quo of the ‘90’s isn’t going to cut it anymore. Not only does the democratic voting base (which is often taken for granted) need a younger, charismatic person or people to vote for, but that person needs to have the fire to get things done while calling out republicans for their corporate, pro-wealthy wicked agenda that helps no one.

If the election were held today, nobody would vote, because they all think it’s in 2024.
