France Takes No Prisoners in War on Trump-Virus

Vive La France:

In an interview with Le Parisien newspaper on Tuesday, [French President] Macron said: “I’m not for pissing off the French … Now the unvaccinated, I really want to piss them off. And so, we’re going to keep doing it, until the end. This is the strategy.”

His remarks drew swift and angry condemnation from opposition lawmakers, who were debating Macron’s proposed new set of rules for unvaccinated people that would ban them from much of public life…

…The proposed legislation would replace France’s health pass with a vaccine pass, meaning proof of vaccination is necessary for access to a range of everyday activities, from entering restaurants and bars to traveling inside the country. It would no longer accept proof of a negative test or recent recovery from Covid.

And this is the strategy, it seems solid though it might be hard to enforce:

“I’m not going to put them in jail, I’m not going to forcibly vaccinate them, and so, you have to tell them: from January 15, you will no longer be able to go to the restaurant, you will no longer be able to have a drink, go for a coffee, to the theater, you will no longer go to the movies,” Macron told Le Parisien.

Are there any Governors in the house?

I’m all for putting these assholes on house arrest. Both of my subordinates are in quarantine, I just got a text that one tested positive and will be out for at least a week.

    This situation is untenable.

I have a friend who had to take his dog to the emergency vet last night and lo! the entire clinic was shut: all the staff was in quarantine. He had to find another emergency vet. The doggo is going to be fine (he thinks).

This is going to happen again and again with vital services. We’re totally eff’ed in the dark.

  2. I am dreading the start of classes next week….masks only mandatory “where appropriate social distancing cannot be maintained”…but at least the U was able to mandate vaccinations for all staff and faculty because we get federal munnies so we could tell Dougie “Il’ Deuce”* Ducey to bugger off with his freedumb bullshit.

I like France’s reasonable attitude about it. Fine, don’t vaccinate and have no place in an open society. Seems to me we’d have a lot less sick in our country with a similar attitude.
