This Didn’t Age Well

Hugh Hewett

Guys, we know that between now and New Year’s Eve there are going to be tons of lists, 2021 Best Of [whatevs], and probably more than a few 2021 Worst Of [whatevs]. The crack research team at MPS spent literally a moment combing the web so you don’t have to!

As there can only be one Best (and one Worst) take of 2021 we feel confident that we have found the Best/Worst all in a single hot take from Hugh Hewitt the morning of January 6 2021:

Megyn Kelly: “Joe Biden’s going to get certified [as president-elect] today. What does Trump do over the next two weeks before the inauguration? … I mean, he’s still going to be saying what he’s saying about the electoral process, and there’s a big rally in D.C. today, but what do you think we can expect?”

Hugh Hewitt: “I would just say to everybody: It will be fine. Everything’s going to be fine.”

We will note that Mr. Hewitt continues to be gainfully employed —for some reason that remains a mystery to us all —as a pundit who is supposed to know stuff.

I use Hugh as a bellwether on the WaPo Opinion page. If he says something I bank on the opposite. His columns should probably be in the entertainment section.

Hewitt is a performance artist without the performance or the artist parts.

  3. as a pundit right-wing propagandist who is supposed to know stuff reliably inject fascist poison into our national discourse

His employment becomes far more understandable when his job description is correctly stated.

i always cringe when i hear the word ‘pundit’ used to describe some people. ‘pundit’ is from the sanskrit meaning ‘learned one’. in my mind, never has a word been used so incorrectly, unless you count calling repubs ‘pro-life’.
