One Lump of Stupid or Two, Sen. Cotton?

Perhaps that constipated look on his face might be the reason why?

In all honesty, Senators and stuff like that, don’t shop. They pay people or expect their womenfolk to do that stuff. I can’t blame him for not knowing about a shortage that everyone else “faced” (ha-ha). As long as he had enough TP each day he’d see no reason to question tomorrow.
    just a saying

Bush the Elder going into a grocery store in the 1990s and being amazed that they had scanners.

      • Ehhh, this is a pet peeve of mine; up there with “Granny Spilled Her Coffee and Sued McDonalds” There are many MANY sins that Bush The Elder committed that cemented his place in hell, but that wasn’t one of them.

The scanners being demonstrated were (iirc) the first versions of a new kind of scanner that could weigh produce and scan even heavily damaged barcodes.

But although Bush had remarked that some of the machine’s features seemed “amazing,” it hardly looked like his first time in a supermarket checkout line. Mostly, Bush seemed to be politely listening to National Cash Register executives making their pitch.

Reporters later learned that it was a special scanner with advanced features, including a scale to weigh produce — uncommon then — and the ability to read barcodes even if they were torn up and jumbled.

This is akin to VP Harris’s unprecedented purchase of cookware on the made-up scandal.

Thanks, bruce, I didn’t say this because all I remembered was that Bush’s amazement was misrepresented. I thought it was something about scanning the barcode in any configuration, because some scanners, even now, want that barcode in a certain orientation, not sideways.

    • Came here to say that! These fucks are just compleyely out of touch with how 99% of us live our lives.

As the household designated shopper (I was able to get vaxxed at the end of January 2020) I remember the aisles of empty shelves. Wasn’t just TP…canned goods, pasta, all kinds of staples were simply not available. Remember the”Great Yeast Shortage” ??

I remember, standing in line for an HOUR waiting for Costco to open up when they had ‘old people hours’ and would get a small shipment of TP. Got a package, and sent my wife a pic of it in my cart with the title ‘GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLL!!!’ 😎

If Tom Cotton thinks that Possum Hollar is gonna strategically forget the shelves at the Piggly Wiggly being bare, they totally are gonna recall the Jim Bakker potato slop buckets they trip over daily on the way to the still.

      • Strategic forgettery is possibly THE defining trait of Possum Hollar. They’ll blame the empty shelves in the Piggly-Wiggly on ‘The PResident. And who is the President?? Biden!

This is how Republicans kept us safe from terrorism (9/11 was Clinton’s fault) and that dastardly, suspiciously named, mustard-eating Ni-KLANG Obama presided over the implosion of the world economy in 2008.

This is how the Ayatollah’s decided to free the hostages AFTER Carter was defeated. And it had nothing at aall to do with secret negotiations with Iran by the incoming Ray-Gun administration. One of those many sins GHWB committed)

Let me drop some reminders here.
Crafting – totally out of elastic, cotton fabrics, pipe cleaners (aka fuzzy sticks), thread, sewing machines because, at root, that whole plan of having the USPS deliver face masks to every household with an address was vetoed. Also totally out of craft paints, since those came from China, which wasn’t shipping anything and parents needed something for the kids to do at home, especially since schools were closed.
Before that – Hand sanitizer – gone, closely followed by the aloe vera and alcohol in the recipe to make your own.
Also, too – no bottled water (we’re in the high plains desert where a lot of the local water has arsenic and fertilizer leached into it), no sodas (no Pepsis, no Cokes, no ginger ale, no Squirt, nothing), out of rice. out of beans, out of those noodle cup soups, pretty much out of canned soups – anything easy and quick to prepare and anything with a long shelf life. Out of flour, out of yeast, out of all the cleaning products.
Yeah, Cotton, no supply chain issues, right?

This alone should get Cheetolini a place in the dock at the Hague, for “crimes against humanity”

On one supermarket trip last year, the only things left in the entire frozen food aisle were a few bags of okra. Good thing I like gumbo.

I figure Tom Cotton was wiping his ass with his bare hand about a year and a half ago, and it didn’t bother him at all. Maybe he’s always done it that way.

  6. It doesn’t matter if there were empty shelves the first year of the pandemic or even before the pandemic (there was). Nor does it matter that things had jumped in price two, three, ten times what they were worth within weeks of the pandemic hitting our shores … while Trump was still president. All the matters is that there are empty shelves NOW & that things are astronomically expensive NOW … when Biden is president … because it means it’s BIDEN’S FAULT. IT’S ALL BIDEN’S FAULT. Not only is the GOP going to hammer this home but the MSM is going to help them every step of the way … until Biden is out of the presidency & either Trump is back in there or some other GOP asshole.

“…Trump is back in there or some other GOP asshole.” Yes, and they don’t intend to let our Democracy go on, as it is, any longer.

I think the fact that “supply chain” has become the hot go-to media phrase (in addition to “critical race theory”) only recently contributes to the perception that it is a recent (Biden era) problem. The GQP counts on people having the shortest of memories and attention spans.
