Republicans Hard At Work
They say that politics is the art of addition – how do you get more people on your team than on the other. The answer seems obvious, you reach out to the undecided and convince them that they are welcome.
Unless you are a Republican, of course (emphasis mine):
The National Republican Congressional Committee will run a one-day, nation-wide ad campaign today — one year out from the 2022 midterm elections, targeting Democrats over rising prices, crime and the border…
- The ad will air Monday on Fox News, Newsmax and One America News Network.
- It’s a small ad buy, and will only run for one day. The committee is spending just under $100,000 on the ad, but it sets the tone for the cycle.
We should note that Newsmax is not carried coast-to-coast, and ONAN is not even covered in all regions and some major locals (they have no distribution in NY, for instance). So this ad buy is not about adding, it is about keeping.
So the GOP paid $100K Ameros for an ad that no one outside of your already narrow demographic will ever see, not even accidentally.
Got it.
IOW – A two minutes hate.
That’ll set the tone for the mid-terms all right.

Well, there’s always a poster. Apologies to garbage trucks everywhere…

So, are the Republicans setting fire to their money or just flushing it away? It doesn’t matter; they have somewhere near to unlimited cash from all over the world. Nancy Pelosi is doing her job. Chuck Schumer needs to begin shouting and body-punching instead of wasting his breath seeking “comity!”

“They” say lots of stupid, stupid, stupid shit.
Pretty clear for decades now that politics is the art of subtraction in this country: Republican subtracting the votes they don’t like.
It even affects our side: how many reliably liberal pundits have bemoan the Democrats running on “Defund the Police” or “Wokeism”.
Which number of Dems on anything above the ‘ranting on twitter’ level is precisely ZERO.
