Batman Goes Dark(er)

My parents banned violent comic books and so I never really had to choose sides in the long-running fight between DC-Marvel Universes: I just don’t care.

Batman was always the most interesting one of the comic book heroes (Superman is the least interesting, actually super boring to me), but Batman was never that interesting.

I might have to revisit that opinion, just based on this trailer. Batman should be dark, he should be vengeance personified, he should be damaged. I’m not sure he should be emo Rob Pattinson, but I could be wrong.

So… which Batman did you like best and why?

That trailer was just chaos and not very compelling.

  2. My favorite Batman is the one that “Pennyworth”‘s Alfred eventually works for : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8425532/ MIght be this one…Andy Serkis as Alfred very much fits.

This is a really great series and what Gotham should have been.

Ok ok ok…if I have to rank them:

Adam West Absolutely in a complete league of his own and, I’ll wager, THE Batman for a significant chunk of the blogs readership 🙂

    The “Serious” Batmen in order:

    Christian Bale
    Michael Keaton
    George Clooney
    Lego
    Val Kilmer
Ben Affleck (who is THE WORST Movie Batman who costarred with THE WORST movie Superman. Even Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot couldn’t save that trainwreck. )

Oh, yeah, I forgot about LEGO Batman! Second best in my book.
Adam West was the best. He had the advantage of setting a mold, and setting it in a way that was never embraced in other Batmans (until LEGO Batman). Also, I was a kid and took it oh, so serious when the series came out, could not understand why the olders were all laughing at me. Then I watched it again and found a whole new set of reasons to love West’s Batman.

  3. It would be a tossup between Die Fledermaus and Batmanuel.

  4. Hello TG I like the Ben Affleck of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. While I liked both Justice League movies I think the better is the Snyders directors cut. I think Ben Affleck balances out the human and myth of Batman best. Some movies / actors go too far in the dark brooding and others get too campy. IMO. Hugs
