The Final Frontier

The AP tells us…

VAN HORN, Texas (AP) — Hollywood’s Captain Kirk, 90-year-old William Shatner, blasted into space Wednesday in a convergence of science fiction and science reality, reaching the final frontier aboard a ship built by Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin company.

The “Star Trek” hero and three fellow passengers soared an estimated 66 miles (106 kilometers) over the West Texas desert in the fully automated capsule, then safely parachuted back to Earth in a flight of just over 10 minutes.

Well-played Bezoz. But still pretty cool.

Captain Quirk got blasted into near space and then parachuted back to Earth? Well I guess that’s ok because he’s only a millionaire, but that leaves the question unanswered why are billionaires blasting into space just because they’ve never been there before? If they wanted to go somewhere they’ve never been before, we could have just sent them to the tax office. Seems like a lot more efficient use of resources…

The group of billionaire assholes are looking to create an exclusive enclave off the planet since they know that we all have about 15-20 years of being able to live our current debauched lifestyles before the climate and the lack of resources force us to drastically alter how we all live and interact with one another.

Well, whatever. He was great when he played Captain Kirk. I hope he didn’t turn out to be one of these republican idiots who are causing so much sorrow.

I’m kinda proud of George Takei. Sulu. I was a larva at the time. Uhura and Chekhov also helped form my larval consciousness.
