Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Universal Vote By Mail Delivers for California

Guys, it is not exactly a secret that most of California is as blue as sapphires and the recent recall election proved that if you give everyone a ballot then good things happen. Welcome to the States of Oregon and Washington: California, you now have universal voting by mail like the rest of the west coast!

“California’s pandemic-inspired move toward mailing a ballot to every registered, active voter will become a permanent part of the state’s political landscape, an embrace of an extended and flexible voting process instead of the traditional focus on a single day of voting in person.

“Gov. Gavin Newsom’s signature Monday on Assembly Bill 37 makes California the eighth state in the nation with a law on the books requiring every voter to be mailed a ballot. The new law is part of an evolution of voting in the state over the last two decades, an effort to provide voters more options for when and where to cast their ballots.”

So now you need to help the rest of us get rid of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, and save the USPS.

As much as I love checking the Democrat box here in Ca. I do have to remind you it’s not all a blue state by any means. I have to hide my liberal nature in public and postings, as I live in that central Red area of Ca.
If it weren’t for the large population numbers of our blue coastal areas we would be a Red state. I am continually “represented” (hah) by an old tired Rethug named McClintock. Any challenger gets wiped out sadly.
We constantly have to be on guard for Rethug attitudes and ideas.
I only wish we were so blue a state.

I feel for you, but take heart, change comes slowly, but it does come. I live in an historically red part of OC that is currently represented by the (truly) Honorable Katie Porter. I would vote for her for congress, senate, president, supreme court justice and homecoming queen. I hope she runs for all of these in the next election.

      w3ski –

Yeah, the split in California has always been east-west with the population on the coast being overwhelmingly Dem. My parents (old-school, reliable Republicans) always felt that their vote was wasted in Oakland, and thank Dawg they were right.

It might trickle into local elections when they are all voters by mail, and you may be rid of McClintock someday (and yes, I know all about him, what a dope). Keep the faith and the good fight going, we all are in this together.
