Susan Collins is Concerned (Republicans At Your Cervix, Ladies!)

The Golden Schlafly!

We are awarding a much-coveted Gold Schlafly Award to Sen. Susan Collins, who manages to proclaim that she is pro-Choice while having an astonishing record of supporting every limit on abortion and voting to confirm a theocrat Supreme Court Justice from Gilead and another who is credibly accused of being a (serial?) rapist. Anyway, you will be shocked to learn that Collins is concerned about codifying the protections of Roe v Wade into law:

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said Tuesday she opposes the Democrats’ bill, which would prohibit states from enacting restrictions on abortion through fetal viability.

Democrats, led by bill author Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, say their legislation would “codify” the Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade decision legalizing abortion. But in a brief interview, Collins said the bill goes further than that by interfering with existing law that ensures health professionals who object to abortion are not required to participate in it. “I support codifying Roe. Unfortunately the bill…goes way beyond that. It would severely weaken the conscious exceptions that are in the current law,” Collins said, adding that she found parts of the bill’s language “extreme.”

Collins said the bill would weaken the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which protects a person’s ability to exercise their religion…. “This ‘carve out’ would be unprecedented, and I do not believe it is necessary to codify Roe,” she said in a follow-up statement.

The bill has 48 Democratic co-sponsors and will need 60 votes to override a filibuster. Maybe Collins should be concerned about that?

Surprise, surprise, Lucy and the football again and again. When will people stop thinking Collins is anything but the hard core conservative republican that she is and has always been. Charlie Brown stop trying to kick that football.

Most people I know that actually pay attention to what’s going on in DC knows that Susie is nothing more than a stuttering twat who will sell-out to the richest, federalist society donor and whose morals are solely dictated by mitch mcconnell. It’s the worthless beltway media who continually proclaims her to be a ‘moderate’ and a ‘maverick’ on issues when her poor voting record and her idiotic speeches given on the floor of the antiquated senate says otherwise.

So why would this hypothetical health “professional’ who objects to abortion be participating in the process, rather than, you know being a plastic surgeon, or pediatric nurse, or something like that instead of being in a position where they would be forced to do that?

It’s a really weak argument to make, but then again none of the dems have the courage to inform her or her russian bought-and paid-for morally bankrupt republican colleagues that if you or a health professional don’t agree with getting an abortion, DONT GET ONE but don’t go around forcing your limited beliefs that have been formed by bronze-age myths on others.

Susan Collins (R-Obstructionist) dusts off the cobwebs from her shoulders, stands up and exposes her 20th Century Ideology as her new fall fashion. Again.
