Politico Is The Worst, Part Infinity

Guys, that was the subhead last night on Politico’s website for Newsom’s landslide victory, so I think that’s the completion of our punditry bets in the Good News For John McCain category. We got it 100% right.

Der Tiger Beat auf dem Potomac (thanks Charlie and Watertiger!)  morning’s email thingie has exactly this to say about the recall:

NOT A SHOCKER: Calif. Gov. GAVIN NEWSOM crushed the recall attempt by a nearly 2-to 1 margin.

The recall was a epic, legendary, stupid move by the GQP: A) The California GOP failed to recruit a viable candidate, and 2) Newsom will be nearly undefeatable a year from now in his re-election campaign. This recall gave him incredibly up-to-date polling information for 2022, and I predict very likely that Cali will now modify the state constitution to fix this stupid recall mechanism.

  1. As always, this is good news for John McCain:

Democrats need to prove they can govern for EVERYBODY, and if you look at California — it’s not necessarily the best test case for national Democrats (see: concern about homelessness, crime, etc)

Funny how Republicans never have to prove jack shit.

CNN’s “National Affairs Analyst”, ladies and germs!

From what I’ve seen the election became a referendum on Covid-19. Newsom takes it seriously while the GQP doesn’t. It turns out there aren’t things that are more important than living.

There’s a good chance Newsom regrets that dinner at the French Laundry, though.

OMG. The republicans cost the Democrats $70M!!! How much did the republicans spend on this kabuki theater (including the cost of the recall vote, of course)?
