Pretty damn clever of them to sneak the vaccine into the horse paste, I thought!

So they’re killing themselves off. Makes you wonder how much gerrymandering and voter suppression is enough once the base is gone…

Now can we get them to sign ‘do not intubate’ forms?

Uhg- 20% of the US? That’s roughly 66 Million people.

Well, TFG did get 74 Million votes in the 2020 election.

What are the chances that those 20% of folks who say they won’t get the vaccine DON’T also have co-morbidities? I wonder what % Covid will actually cut out of that particular demographic?

Those anti-vax talk radio hosts and preachers who croaked from Covid-19 may have done some good after all.

Every couple of days I make a feeble attempt to understand the inner state of someone who has been so propagandized that they have no way of evaluating the difference between (a) something that somebody they know read on the FB or Twitter pg of some rando, and (b) the results of investigation done by people like their own (apparently still basically trusted ) local medical people, who have trained for years and spent even more years learning how diseases work.

The only idea I ever come up with is that lots of people spend their childhoods steeped in fhat old time religion. I did myself, up to age of about 8 when my widowed mom married a freethinker. Christianity as it was presented to me in Sunday School is well suited to the capacity for wonderment, love of stories, simple moral outlook, and magical thinking tendencies of young kids. If you’ve lived in places where unanalytical churchgoing is the standard and a big part of social life, you may go thru adulthood never imagining another approach to Truth and Evidence and all that stuff. A lot of the US is like that.

    • I don’t necessarily think so. That Old Tyme Religion enforces blind obedience to the Man Up Front.

This is the Old Tyme Anti-intellectualism : the sneering dismissal of this ‘smarty-pants’ ‘teacher’s pets’ and their book-larnin’. The ones who got stuffed in the locker and given routine beatdowns outside of school for the unforgivable sin of being smarter than their bullies.

This translates to yer not smarter than me! when the shitheads grow up, and an instant reaction to actual learned advice to find someone who says “Those eggheads don’t know nuthin!” and sells them snake oil.
