(UPDATED) Cruelty is the Point

Trae is reacting to Republican orthodoxy that helping people less fortunate sets them up to be moochers for life.

A GOP-led school district in Wisconsin has opted out of a federally funded program that would provide free meals to all students, regardless of family income, because kids shouldn’t be spoiled rotten with unnecessary luxuries like, you know, food.

Never forget that cruelty is the point with Republicans, they can never believe that anything other than manifestly selfish behavior drives people (well, it drives THEM; the threat of eternal damnation keeps them in line, not the promise of heaven) and they project this belief on the rest of the world.

And let’s jump to it: where’re there’s a eff’ing miserable idea, there’s Fox News will distill it into pure evil. Let’s see if we can spot it:

Poor people are dogs. Got it.

Happy workers are more productive than frightened workers, and a hungry dog is an unpredictable animal. This also gives us insight into what kind of employees these Republican monsters would be, in need of being threatened and belittled to do their jobs.  Pro tip: no one should hire these fools. We see you.

Let’s pause for a moment to consider that this dude is in an industry where the workers live on tips. Hospitality workers are not going back to work for free. He’s complaining because he can no longer demand free labor.

UPDATE 1: In case you are curious about the people putting forward this policy, let’s meet ’em:

Off hand, I’d say that they are probably addicted to food.

If it is true that military dogs are fed at night, then 1) they are fed daily (nightly) because an idiot in the military runs the risk of killing a lot of others and 2) the real reason is less likely to be keeping the puppers hungry and more likely to be get up in the AM and poop, then you can travel light in case of a fight.
Note – This does not address military night actions.

“Look, we starve dogs in order to make them vicious killers. Why shouldn’t we do the same to people? I just made up that fact and that analogy about five minutes ago, but I think we should use it as proof positive that we have no moral obligations to other people whatsoever.”

I was going to comment on this by saying one hungry dog will find another hungry dog and the next thing you know is that the cats and Muffy dogs in the neighborhood start to disappear.

Hunger is a pretty powerful thing.

I doubt either of these human maggots has ever been hungry a day in their miserable lives.

  8. he “rescued” two bars in Milwaukee. After the new operations experienced a surge due to the notoriety, the staff started leaving because the conditions got so much worse. Both bars soon closed; one was torn down. Nice work, you cobag.
