Shocker: Centrist Dems Betrayed By McConnell

Amply be-chinned Mitch McConnell might have revealed too much from behind the scenes of the recent Dims in Disarray internal discussion of how to get the infrastructure bill(s) passed:

McConnell Blesses Centrist Dems’ Attempt To Blow Up Two-Track Infrastructure Plan

And here’s the operative quote:

“I wish the moderates in the House success,” McConnell said on Fox News Tuesday morning. “They want to split the infrastructure bill away from this massive $3.5-to-5 trillion reckless tax and spending bill, and deal with the two separately.”

And of course now the House moderates are on the losing end of that attempt, the Republicans true to their scorpion-on-the-back-of-the-frog nature stung the leader of the moderates:

Gottheimer caves to Pelosi, abandons constituents

In other words, they got out-played and badly. As Pelosi said a couple of weeks ago when this all started, “Amateur Hour.”

And that leads us to the obvious conclusion(s): 1) Never cross Nancy Pelosi, and B) the whole party needs to get in line and pass all of the Biden priority bills.

Hello TG. And yet if depending on which news source you listen to this was either a master stroke by Pelosi for the progressives in the party, or a total caving to the corporate Democrats in hopes of stopping the larger spending bill. Complete hype and spin no matter which side of the coin the media is on. I miss the days when news programs gave you the facts as they were known and let the view fill in the adjectives as they wished. But that doesn’t drive clicks from the tribes does it. Hugs

Point of order: Gottheimer did not abandon his constituents. He abandoned conservative republicans.
