Yesterday, four Capitol and Metropolitan Police Department officers recounted their experience fighting off the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol during the first hearing of the House committee investigating the attack. You probably already know what they said, so we’ll be light there, but here’s some fall-out.
“The Republican Party’s self-portrayal as champions of law and order collided with searing testimony Tuesday from police officers themselves. Officers described in vivid, personal terms the terror of defending the U.S. Capitol from violent Trump-inspired insurrectionists on Jan. 6,”
Also from the AP:
…which will derail yet another political stratagem of the Coup Klux Klan:
“The salience of hitting Democrats on the subject of race was discussed privately by GOP strategists on the sidelines of a Republican National Committee dinner in California last week, and again at a meeting of the Republican Governors Association last week in Aspen, Colo., according to multiple people who attended those events.”
Said GOP strategist Curt Anderson: “This is not a close call. This is ‘Defund the Police’ 2.0.”
Oh, this is good news, and thank-you Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA):
Get the subpoenas ready:
Just think of all the questions you could ask Gym Jordan if he was under oath. Heh. But I digest...
Charlie Kirk, the obnoxious twerp with a face too small for his head, should get a subpoena, too:
So what’s next you ask?
And we’ll conclude with the stunt press conference by the Moron Caucus — Reps. Matt Gaetz (FL), Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA), Paul Gosar (AZ), and Louie Gohmert (TX) — backfired spectacularly:
By the way, the woman relentlessly asking America’s aging prom date if he is a pedophile is my Twitter friend Lauren Windsor from The UnderCurrent. Give her a follow and tell her that @Tengrain sent you. (Full disclosure: we DM nearly daily. I’m proud as all Hell of her.)
