Well, I didn’t see this one coming: it seems that Tinfoil helmeted Tucker Carlson’s claims of being spied upon by the NSA are so important that House Minority Leader K-Mac has charged known super-brain and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Ranking Member Devin Nunes to investigate.
McCarthy Statement on the National Security Agency
Washington, D.C. – House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on why he’s asked House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Ranking Member Devin Nunes (CA-22) to investigate the National Security Agency:
“For the past several months, I have seen a disturbing trend at the National Security Agency.
“Earlier this year, I sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Austin expressing concern over the politicization of the Agency through the sidelining of Michael Ellis as NSA General Counsel. I asked that Mr. Ellis be reinstated and expressed my concern regarding undue political influence in NSA placing Mr. Ellis on administrative leave.
“Separately, it has recently come to my attention that NSA has refused to deliver information requested by the Republican Members on the House Intelligence Committee who are trying to fulfill their oversight responsibilities.
“Now, there is a public report that NSA read the emails of Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Although NSA publicly denied targeting Carlson, I have serious questions regarding this matter that must be answered.
“Given this disturbing trend, I’ve asked HPSCI Ranking Member Devin Nunes to investigate and find answers on behalf of the American people. The NSA cannot be used as a political instrument, and House Republicans will ensure accountability and transparency.”
Yes, the American People are very concerned that someone might have read noted Black Studies Scholar and TeeVee Dinner Heir Tucker Carlson’s emails, you know, instead of sending them to the Junk folder.
The NSA responds!
Meanwhile, no other Fox News show has run with the story, and what’s up with that?
Tucker Carlson Says The NSA Wants Him Off The Air. Fox News Isn’t Following His Lead
On consecutive nights this week, Fox News prime-time host Tucker Carlson has alleged that the National Security Agency — charged with monitoring communications abroad to keep the U.S. safe — is spying on him in hopes of getting his top-rated show canceled…
…And Fox News has notably not reported on Carlson’s allegations within its news programs, according to a review of transcripts. Not on Fox News political anchor Bret Baier’s show. Not on Fox anchor John Roberts’ afternoon news program. Not even on the often conspiracy theory-friendly morning show, Fox & Friends.
Online, Fox News has published two brief posts — one without a byline — simply rounding up what Carlson said but offering no new reporting. And Fox News public relations executives have not responded to repeated requests for comment from NPR and other outlets asking whether the network stands behind Carlson’s claims. They instead pointed to Carlson’s own remarks.
So there you have it: K-Mac has asked Devin ‘Midnight Runner’ Nunes to investigate why the NSA wants to get notable Black Scholar Tucker Carlson off the air (which to be fair seems like a fun use of tax dollars), and Pravda’s US competitor Fox News isn’t touching this with a 10-foot Nielsen Family Poll.
Thank God for Devin Nunes’ involvement, this shitshow is about to become comedy gold.
