Tennessee Man To Pay For SD National Guard Field Trip To Mexico Border

OK, this is nuts: Gov. Kristi Noem of North South Dakota* (state tourism motto: Come See Our Rock Heads!) announced that she was deploying some number of National Guard troops to the Mexico border in Texas. As one does. And then she announced that this field trip will be paid for by a donor. The money is coming from a foundation run by Tennessee billionaire Willis Johnson, who was a major donor to Hair Füror in 2020.

We are thrilled that billionaires can now rent out armed troops and send them wherever, a marvelous idea heretofore unknown, with no imaginable downsides. Why has no one thought of this before? I guess Blackwater was booked elsewhere?

Why, yes, Noem is reportedly a 2024 Goat Rodeo contender, why do you ask?

Sorry to be that guy, but one of my kids just moved his family to Noem’s state (ugggghhhhhh) so I’ve been googling a lot about it. It’s South Dakota.

  2. You’re not a real oligarch until you have a private army, although given that a couple have the capability of fielding their own fleets of ICBMs we’re headed towards that Cyberpunk future faster than we realize.

Can you imagine the Fox News Head explosions if the Governor of NM or CA had send National Guard troops to DC on 1/6 paid for by Bloomberg?

It should be Bloodwater not blackwater, that’s the name of that great tune by the Doobies.

And I read your comment as “…Why, yes, Noem is reportedly a 1524 Goat Rodeo contender, why do you ask?”

A privately financed National Guard deployment? No, nothing wrong with that. Move along now.
They are Not a Private Army. I had thought we had a functioning Federal Government watching out over stuff like this.
