He Seems Nice

Eagles Nest gift shop habitué Rep. Madison Cawthorn, ladies and gents:

I did not think I would ever hear a Republican Congressman, uh, brag about the Viet Cong killing Marines as an argument that Possum Hollar should rise up against America, but I also never expected a Hitlerjugend to be elected to Congress.

In case you want some more context:

“The Second Amendment is not written for sporting. The Second Amendment is so that if a tyrannical government ever wants to rise up, we can stop them.”

The funny thing is the Second Amendment states exactly what its purpose is and that’s to create a well-regulated militia. I suppose opening a box and reading out loud the Electoral Votes from each state is the kind of tyranny that this junior league Hitler is talking about stopping.

The thing that really bugs about “The 2nd Amendment was written so we can rise up against a tyrannical government” is the idea that they think they need permission.”Well I’d really like to throw off the yoke of tyranny that’s been put on me, but it turns out the people who are doing the tyrannizing didn’t give me permission to do so, so I just can’t”

  3. Ask the Viet Cong how they handled the Marines and the Army in Vietnam

The Viet Cong were essentially destroyed as a viable force during the Tet Offensive, four years before the end of the war.

The primary enemy the Army and Marines always faced were the NVA which was an actual army, with tanks and artillery and air forces and all that..

The main targets of the Viet Cong throughout the war were South Vietnamese civilians, armed forces and authorities. Their main tools were assasination and massacres of unarmed civilians.

If he actually read real history instead of Sgt Rock comics, he would know that, but he’s essentially a ‘tuff guy’ cosplayer.

Viet Kong killed versus US AND French military killed goes at a better than 10 -1 ratio. Possom Hollar would do well to keep that in mind.

Mel Gibson’s portrayal of ‘minutemen’ in “Patriot” not withstanding, the fact is militia has never done well against a trained and organized army. Washington lost all the battles before he created an army.

Even he didn’t buy into the militia myth. Time came to put down the “Whiskey Rebellion” he sent US regulars and they quelled the uprising handily.

The gap between the effectiveness of militia and a regular army has only grown as warfare has become more complicated.

Go ahead, point your little pop-pistols at the US Army.

I’ll just sit here on my sack of seeds …

The question that remains unanswered to my satisfaction is just exactly who’s doin’ the tyranny? Yeah yeah yeah we’re always hearing about overthrowing a tyrannical government, but what about a church, say the Catholic Church, a minority, imposing a tyranny on the majority, on the rest of us? A rogue political party? A group of loud-mouthed malcontents, for example violent anarchist Ammon Bundy and his collection of antigovernmental activists? White nationalist sheriffs? White nationalists? Utterly foreign occupiers perpetrating a religious genocide?

Minorities, imposing a tyranny upon the majority, upon the rest of us.

I don’t have a problem with the Second ~ it’s open to my interpretation …

As a person who uses a wheelchair, i have sympathy. It is not easy. That a**$*le could have had it all. Nice face by the local standards. Nice manners if you want to spend your life being a trump supporter in a wheelchair. You know he will call you a loser.
He likes people who don’t don’t have accidents.
Why you hang out with these horrible Republicans i don’t understand.
What did you do? What are you afraid of? Surely, it can’t get worse.
