Novel Jan. 6 Gambit: ‘It Was An Ironic Joke’

Honest-to-Dawg, the insurrectionists from The Stupid Coup are trying the to claim it was just a satirical joke, and don’t you have a sense of humor:

The ProPublica article linked in the tweet is long but a joy to read, and has some comic-tragic elements as one weak-brained Texas good ol’ boy gets sucked into the muck of it, as an object-lesson to us all.

  1. MDavis says:

    Contrast take-away…
He and his non-organized fellow 1/6ers recite the pledge of allegiance and sing the national anthem together because they are so patriotic.
He had his wife send him names of presidents so that he and his buds could name their rooms after presidents.

  2. Well it appears that ‘patriotism’ is NOT the ‘Last Refuge of Scoundrels, it’s ‘Patriotism as a low-rent Punk’d knockoff’ that is the last refuge of Scoundrels.

  6. Big Bad Bald Bastard says:

The best detail of this story is his threat to harm his children if they turned him in, and still his son dropped a dime on him. He thought he was some kind of biblical patriarch, ready to kill his wayward bairns.

His son said, “Sorry, Dad, the FBI is my new Dad now.”
