Like Diogenes, Sen. Manchin Is Looking For A Few Honest Men

Joe Manchin demands must be met!

I’m laughing, but it is a bitter laugh:

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), one of the filibuster’s strongest supporters in the Democratic Party, seemed aghast that his GOP colleagues are on track to block the [January 6 Insurrection Commission].

“So disheartening. It makes you really concerned about our country,” Manchin said. Asked if that is an abuse of the filibuster: “I’m still praying we’ve still got 10 good solid patriots within that conference.”

Show us the 10 you think you have, Joe, otherwise shut your hole. There are not 10 solid patriots in the Republican caucus. There’s probably not 10 solid patriots in the party, period. It is a cult now.

C’mon, Manhin. Really concerned? REALLY concerned?

Pffft. You’ve got a long, long, long way to go, Dude.

Look at Collins. She’s very concerned. That’s how a real pro goes about not doing jack shit.

Me thinks Ms. Collins will not make too much of a fuss while quietly doing the bidding of mcconnell since it was revealed that a super pac dark monies were used illegally to fund her questionable campaign.

Mr. “No Labels” may be the media’s darling now since he helps them define a situation that is clearly not a ‘bothsides’ do it issue but just wait until an intrepid young reporter starts asking any left of center voter there in WV. They will easily let you know how joe’s vaunted political instincts are like those of Joe Lieberman and how Joe as governor, Secretary of State and now senator killed the democratic party there in WV.

So does Manchin walk around holding his smartphone up with the flashlight on?

Trying to view this statement positively. If/when the bill goes down in flames on the Senate floor, and Manchin knows that even his limited version of S.1–which he said “must be done”—meets a similar fate, he throws up his hands and says “enough!”

But what if TWO people are praying that there are NOT ten patriots? Do their prayers counteract Manchin’s? Does this mean that prayer is actually more democratic than the senate?

    Suggestion for Joe.
Pray in one hand and shit in the other. One hand will have your “10 good solid patriots

    “Praying”? Did he say “praying”?
    Perish the thought.

If a geriatric R uncoils his or her mortality this summer then D’s only need 49 votes plus the Veep.
Joe is awfully far out on a brittle thin limb.

    Howdy y’all!

Heard on one of the MSNBC primetime shows tonight that Manchin and Sinema want to keep the filibuster so they don’t have to be the deciding votes on these issues. If there were no filibuster, they’d have to actually cast a vote one way or another.

I think Manchin is making all of the right noises for a change in opinion on reforming the filibuster once the police reform bill, the For the People Act, and the American Jobs Plan go down to GQP filibuster, he’ll be able to come around to supporting a talking filibuster and siding more with Dems on the issues.
