We Regret The Error

Sweet, sweet relief

It’s a banner day for Stupid:

US politician caught using fake Zoom background to pretend he’s at home when he’s actually out driving

A US politician has come in for criticism and ridicule after trying to cover up the fact he was driving his car during a Zoom meeting by speaking with a fake background of his home office behind him.

Ohio Republican Senator Andrew Brenner might have gotten away with his deception during the call with the state’s Controlling Board had it not been for the fact his seatbelt was visible for large portions of the meeting.

To make matters worse, the incident occurred on the same day a bill introduced by Brenner calling for a ban on distracted driving was announced.

When we reported this story last week, US papers did not include that the distracted driving bill was Brenner’s, nor that he was using a Zoom background, and well, if you click the link to go to the Irish times, you’ll find a screen grab of him, clearly distracted and wearing a seatbelt. In his “living room.”

We regret that we did not seek out more details at the time.

  1. Hello TG. He is a Republican so hypocrisy is a built-in feature. Do as I say, not as I do. He is a Republican office holder so he is both entitled to do whatever he wants, and he is a white Republican male office holder, so he is exempt from laws he creates for other to follow. Boy good think he is not a Democrat, he would be screwed in every way but fun. Hugs

When he suddenly blurted out “Learn to drive idiot!”, shoulda been a clue.

  3. Uhh, the actual zoom video is everywhere, and honestly, wearing a seatbelt while sitting at the table in his “living room” shoulda been the biggest clue.

Well the seatbelt was the biggest if you discount where the Zoom background failed to cover the halo of car around him, and that his head’s on a swivel most of the time…

Bet he rather wishes he’s turned on the Cat filter instead…

Kind of a backward’s way of lookin’ at it, but I figure these just aren’t smart enough to survive what’s coming, and in the long run that’s good news for the rest of us.
