Liz Cheney Is Not The Story, Politico

Mother and a Patriot, Liz Cheney.

Politico/Tiger Beat on the Potomac (thanks Brother Pierce!) email thingie continues to breathless cover the saga of Blam-Blam’s little deferment —Liz Cheney— as if this “story” actually matters [It goes on for 18 paragraphs and is by far the most-covered item in their email thingie; I gave up counting the paragraphs in their OTHER morning gossip email thingie.]:

If we had a dollar for every time we’ve written about how the future of the Republican Party was about to be decided over some choice about loyalty to DONALD TRUMP … well, let’s just say we would be doing almost as well as if we had invested in dogecoin.

But the all-but-certain decision by House Republicans to oust Conference Chair LIZ CHENEY (R-Wyo.) looks like one of those historical hinge moments — a party solidifying around the idea of loyalty to a single person, one who is obsessed with repeating crackpot lies about election fraud, rather than to policy or ideas.

The Judgement of History awaits for the fate of the most important former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs in our nation’s history, maybe ever and Wyoming’s(!) only representative Liz Cheney! The fate of the nation comes down to the third-highest ranking person in the minority party from one of the least-populated states…

No. The real story is not about Liz Cheney, the real story is that the Republican Party is completely rudderless and has fallen over the edge of their flat earth, and for once the Republicans have no message discipline. And all of this is because they are afraid of the wrath of  twice-impeached LOSER ex-prznint Stupid, who —by the way— has no way of sending mean tweets or posting screeds to Facebook anymore.

Anyway, our Failed Political Press ™ is again missing the most important story of our lifetimes: one of our two political parties is in complete free fall, a cult of personality and completely policy-free.

As ever I caution against counting chickens, or writing Liz’s obit. Darth Cheney and the Deep State are a formidable resource. ‘Course if daddy doesn’t shoot someone in the face, if a few retards’ careers inexplicitly and rather suddenly end, well, I may have egg on my face. Maybe Darth isn’t Deep State. Maybe Deep State, a cabal of Greedy Old Pigs (GOP) secretly running things is just myth.

I am on the edge of my seat …

I can’t wait to see what kind of QAnon freak crawls out of the woodwork to primary here. 2022 is going to be a shitshow.

And realize of course that in the gerrymandered districts —which is most of ’em— the Q-spiracy has a better-than-average chance to win.

We have to take everything seriously or we’re eff’ed in the dark, again.

Liz Cheney is way too conservative for my more progressive self, but alas she serves a very public and much needed function. She has a loud (singular?) voice when defending the Constitution, and the rule of law, while simultaneously going after those who believe the “Big Lie.” I think she is very brave and determined, and won’t go quietly into the dark. The question remains whether she can bring a measure of sanity to the GQP? I hope so, but as far as sane policy in the GQP goes, it may be a hopeless task…

Every move they make, every vow they break, causes unintended consequences now. Being on the wrong side of history isn’t helping either.

    and completely policy-free.

More precisely, that “party” is not, in fact, a political party at all. Rather, it’s a RICO still attempting to manage a deliberately assembled cult of what Driftglass and Blue Gal refer to as “reprogrammable meatbags”.

For much of my adult life, roughly 40 years or so, the meatbags have been the means by which the RICO has intermittently achieved its end of gaining control of the government and thus the “keys to Fort Knox”.

Each and every time they have gained this control, they have proceeded to drain the Treasury for the benefit of the RICO’s funders (the wealthiest elite of our society, or at least the many wannabe oligarchs among them).

Over time, the intermittent success of this RICO has achieved a transfer of wealth amounting to trillions of dollars to the oligarchs from the rest of us. This has been the only real raison detre of the RICO all along. They’ve occasionally done some pesky meddling of the “culture war” sort, but this is merely to manage and manipulate the means by which they achieve their greedy end.

It’s no coincidence that the ONLY thing they always manage to accomplish in power is to cut taxes for the oligarchy and thus transfer some more wealth. In the most recent two years of complete government control, what was the only legislative achievement the RICO put real effort into? Yet another tax scam.

The “political party” operation of the Greed Over People is just a front for their real criminal objectives. I analogize it to a corner store drug dealing operation – they might sell the occasional soda or bag of chips to an unwitting customer, but it’s not the actual reason they’re in business.

As evil and destructive as all of this has been, I almost have to feel a perverse admiration for the evil “genius” of the whole setup. The trillions of transferred wealth cumulatively amount, in my view, to the single greatest heist in human history. Makes Putin and his gang look like punks.

Even as astute and well educated an observer as kindly Doc Maddow has admitted to being puzzled about why the modern GOP has become a “post-policy party”. The reason is as I have stated. A political party with no interest or concern for public policy is not an actual political party at all; it’s a front.

As for Little Blam Blam, no one should fall for the “truth telling” posture she has recently adopted. Like any long standing member of the Rape-Public-CON RICO, she has no particular problem with lying – it’s her normal default position.

She’s just made some calculation that it’s in her long term interest not to participate in telling this latest Big Lie.

    Rant over.

tl/dr: the GOP are all a bunch of crooks, Blam Blam very much included.
