Happy Hour News

It’s a fixer-upper with potential.

Those eff’ers:

Federal judge overturns national eviction ban

KEY POINTS
  • A federal judge struck down on Wednesday the national eviction moratorium, potentially leaving millions of Americans at risk of losing their homes.
  • Housing advocates have said that the national ban is necessary to stave off an unprecedented displacement of Americans, which could worsen the coronavirus pandemic just as the country is turning a corner.
  • Property owners have criticized the policy and say landlords can’t afford to continue housing people for free.

Federal Judge Dabney Friedrich struck down on Wednesday the national eviction moratorium, potentially leaving millions of Americans at risk of losing their homes two months earlier than expected.

You’ll be shocked to learn that Judge Friedrich was an Associate Counsel to President Chimpy McStagger during his reign of error, and twice-impeached LOSER Prznint Stupid nominated Friedrich to serve as a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and amply be-chinned Sen. MoscowMitch crammed her through, and that’s how she got to where she could rule to kick people out of their homes during a pandemic.

I swear to you Republicans would fight each other for the right to take the soup away from Oliver Twist and/or repossess Tiny Tim’s crutches. These people are vile and cruel.

In my non-expert mind, a better solution would be to hibernate all rents, mortgages, interest payments, loan repayments, etc. Not pile up the payments to be paid later, treat the months as if they don’t exist, and extend the length of the loan. This way, big banks would primarily be the ones that need bailouts, and they have the resources to lobby hard to get them.

In the late 1970s or early 1980s, an editor of the Washington Post wrote a comical op-ed complaining that when he called someone on the phone, the secretary would ask “Who’s calling please?” He did not like that so he started replying with the name of what he considered the most useless or inconsequential president of the USA … Millard Fillmore.

Agreed. This moratorium seems to stop at the final chain in the link – the renter. Landlords who own a couple of properties and rent them out as part of their planned income are getting hosed, when the simple solution would be follow your suggestion. Banks pretty much have other income streams to help them get through the drought, such as that Whazzis loans to help businesses keep paying their employees. The ones that were handed out based on nepotism rather than on actual need. Allegedly.
