Apple to let Parler back onto App Store

Apple will let Parler, a social media app popular with conservatives, back onto the App Store after Parler made attempts to improve its speech detection and moderation.

What’s happening: Parler is getting access to Apple’s massive App Store again after being suspended for inadequate hate speech policies following the January 6 Capitol riot, according to a letter Apple sent to Congress Monday.

Why it matters: Getting back on the App Store is a major win for conservatives and Parler, who had accused Apple of silencing them.

Imma guess it is this idea that Apple silenced conservatives that put Tim Cook’s panties in a bunch.

  • On Wednesday, Apple will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee about competition in app stores.

BOOM! Now Cook is expecting an easier time at the hearing.

What they’re saying: Apple’s letter tells Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) that Parler proposed updates to its content moderation practices, and Apple told Parler on April 14 its changes were enough to get back on the App Store.

  • “Huge win for free speech,” Buck tweeted.

There it is. That’s what Cook bought.

  1. You know, for all the silencing of conservative voices going around by things like [checks notes] making it marginally more onerous to shitpost white supremacist hatred on Parler, they sure do make an loud and constant whining sound.

Apple did nothing other than remove the app from their app store.

Parler users were perfectly free to use the website…in Safari on their iPhones, to post. It’s not Apple’s fault that Parler made a shitty-ass website.

“Nice little monopolistic platform you’ve got there………… a shame if anything happened to it…”

Not to mention their “proprietary tech,” and their use of Chinese children drafted as slaves, to assemble their products overseas, with some nice re-location write-offs furnished by Mr. and Mrs/Ms US taxpayer, via Laws passed by the RethugliKKKans.

Oh, and how, in some places in the Rust Belt, and where the Horny Baptists hang out, when you apply for a job at Wal-Mart, they give you a SNAP application to take home, fill out, and then send in, if/when you get hired, and I could go on and on,but I think there ought to be a Law, that says if ANY of your employees need ANY kind of Gov’t. assistance, due to NOT being able to support themselves on the meager wages paid by that Co.,, then the Gov’t. keeps track, and then bills that company quarterly, for the costs, plus interest, of having to provide a paid worker, even if the pay is above Min Wage with having to have the Gov’t. provided assistance in ANY form or manner.

Parler is cooked. Direct line to the FBI, NSA, DHS, etc. also. Do, by all means, tune in “Patriots”

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Justice Dept. was behind this reopening. Easier to keep track of them now.

  4. I’m constantly amazed about these “silenced conservatives” when they’re the only voices I hear. Everyone I know is a conservative or GOP or some form of libertarian. They all act like their opinions are the only ones that matter. Like Christians talking about Christ.

^^^THIS! SAQ- this is true- it’s all you ever hear- they are ALL of the squeekywheels. But I think that is because these people are all of a king- the kind who whine and complain incessantly about everysinglelittlething. Of course none of them ever want to roll up their sleeves to make anything better- all they want to do is tell you how shitty everything is and who to blame for it.

Just like their political leaders- none of them have any kind of solutions to complex real problems- all they want to do is keep the base riled up by telling them what to be afraid of and who to blame for it.
