The U.S. Capitol building is on lockdown after someone rammed a vehicle into two Capitol Police officers at the North Barricade vehicle access point, according to Capitol Police.
The state of play: A suspect is in custody and the officers are injured, according to Capitol Police. All three have been transported to the hospital.
The big picture: Security gates were removed a week ago after weeks of heightened security following the Jan 6. attack on the Capitol.
Details: Capitol staff received a text alert from Capitol Police warning them there would be no entry or exit permitted and to stay away from exterior doors and windows.

UPDATE 1: One of the Capitol Police officers has died, and the suspect, too.
