Jeebus weeps

This is just too rich:

Yoga still banned in Alabama public schools, for now, as conservatives cite Hinduism ties

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A 28-year ban on yoga in Alabama’s public schools may be in place a little longer.

The Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday deadlocked on legislation from Rep. Jeremy Gray, a Democrat, that would lift the prohibition after testimony from Christian conservatives, who claimed it would lead to proselytizing in public schools by followers of Hinduism.

I guess The Rise of the Machines must be a ways off because these tools don’t see the irony in their proselytizing fears as they legislate school prayer and try to make teaching evolution illegal. Bless their hearts.

Banning Hinduism makes perfect sense. After all, do ya really think a buncha cow-worshippers are gonna let you keep on eating your Big Macs? Your Prime Rib, your Ribeye steaks, your most precious Southeren BBQ?

Yes, we should be glad that there are such loyal, patriotic, red-meat-eating, red-blooded Americans willing to risk almost their very lives, to protect us from such intrusions and attacks.

In fact, we should probly invade India, or nuke ’em, or sumthin; we have to fight them over there so we won’t have to fight ’em here!

I’m a regular Tong Bei + yoga practitioner doing a two hour combined practice about four times per week. Me and Cindy T bought a half of cow last fall, so yeah I eat meat but have a vegan daughter who cooks some wonderful dishes. I’m guessing that Alabamians(?) seem to think that yoga is inherently a religious practice. Let me tell you it is not. It’s a very good method for maintaining strength and fitness. I’ve been practicing since college, and still eat meat with a lot of veggies, and I’m not a Hindu even after fifty years of practice, nor am I a Satanist. I stay away from the religious folks because so many of them preach from the Bible, while not following the teachings of Jesus. Hypocrites all around…

With it’s millennia-long history of a rigid caste system, one thing that Hindus don’t do is proselytize.
