Oh, Yoo-hoo, Secret Service, We’ve Got a Live One!

The SD Senator has a statue of himself brandishing a weapon and  is using it to threaten the President.

That’s subtle.

Just another working stiff. Oh wait he’s a Republican? Probably excels at standing in the doorways and blocking the halls (Bob Dylan). In other words dragging his feet on anything from across the aisle…

I was wondering why Rounds had a statue made of himself and what that plaque says. Apparently it is part of a series called Trail of Governors, with his done in 2016.

If you go through the “trail of governors” website, the YouTube shows that the plaque in front of the statue just says what years he was governor and who donated the funds for the statue.
I got curious about the pose.
Of the 25 statues, a lot are holding things like mics and megaphones or in poses you’d expect from a stereotypical politician but there are others.
Berry is holding an ax, Boe has a dog with him, Jensen is wearing some kind of uniform, Foss has a pistol holstered on his hip and wears what looks like a pilot uniform, Gubbrud appears to be looking at a model of a missile.
Only Rounds is displayed with a weapon drawn (unless you count the ax) and – and I would emphasize this as well as the implied threat – that weapon appears to be a long gun suitable for hunting, like with that dog. IIRC that is not one of the guns that is included in the calls for extreme controls. Maybe I’m missing the slot where the magazine goes or something, but I really think that thing isn’t even on the gun control list.
But there’s more. It appears that Calvin’s dad was right – there wasn’t color until recently, so the statues are built to reflect this, with only the more recent governors portrayed in color. I wonder what else he was right about?

Oh, what a surprise, another Republican dope-in-office acting tough on Twitter. This is the same bozo that authored a bill that would’ve make it a Federal crime to boycott Israel or protest Israel’s West Bank policies. So in addition to supporting racist bigotry he clearly doesn’t know anything about the 1st Amendment to the Constitution. But then I already noted he was a Republican.

South Dakota wants to be a big, beachless Floriduh, doesn’t it?
