Georgia: A Coke and a Smile

“I’d like a Diet Coke and a vote, please.”

Pressure works:

Civil liberties groups are ratcheting up pressure on major corporations based in Georgia — including Coca-Cola, Aflac, Delta Air Lines, Home Depot and UPS — to oppose a Republican-led effort to make it harder to vote in the Peach State.

I’m waiting for a some teary-eyed GQP jerk to tell us that we’re cancelling his cancelling of the vote.

UPDATE: Home Depot tries to have it both ways:

Note: After publication of this story, a representative from Home Depot clarified that being “aligned” with the Chamber doesn’t mean they’re opposed to the proposed voting restrictions. The headline and some wording within the story has been updated to reflect this.

And that’s why I shop at Menards instead of Home Depot.

John Menard is his own frelling crazy ass bag.
I hear you with buying local (or at least regional) but damn that guy is awful.

My problem is that there are no local hardware stores (at least not within reasonable distance; all of the available ACE Hardware locations are a considerable distance away), so my only real choices are the big box stores (Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Menards). Sucks, but what can you do other than go with the least bad choices? Plus, Menards is far and away the better choice for things like pool supplies and holiday decorations; seriously, their selections during Christmas are absolutely sick (in a good way).

        Sadly, I totally agree Martin.

Old John sided my garage for free due to a billing/refund screw up. But that was on him.

It’s looking like the CEO’s of both Delta and Coke will have a private conversation or two to let gov. kemp know who really works for who and to veto such idiotic legislation.

KKKemp’s predecessor nathan deal found himself in the same predicament whenever the ga assembly thought it was a noble effort to enact such horrible anti-lgbtq bills. Then again the rural white boomers have convinced themselves of supposed victimhood status, so it would make sense for both corporations to finally make the move to blue states like Minnesota. The other companies like Home Depot are too wedded to the right-wing media idea of being true patriots by continuing to support grifters like fat nixon.
