Always a Godfather, Never a God

Rudderless Republicans

“If I’m lying, may God… hey! I didn’t finish!”

…or even a Godzilla, according to Tiger Beat on the Potomac (thanks Charlie!), who claim that Lord Damp Nut is adrift (sadly not on an icefloe, but we cannot have everything) not having plan, any means to execute a plan, and frankly not having a clue:

Trump was supposed to be a political Godzilla in exile. Instead, he’s adrift.

“…Ex-president Donald Trump finds himself adrift while in political exile. And Republicans, and even some allies, say he is disorganized, torn between playing the role of antagonist and party leader.

“There is no apparatus, no structure and part of that is due to a lack of political understanding on Trump’s behalf,” said a person close to the former president, noting that Trump has struggled to learn the ropes of post-presidential politicking.

“It’s like political phantom limbs. He doesn’t have the same political infrastructure he did three months ago as president,” added GOP strategist Matt Gorman, who previously served as communications director for the National Republican Congressional Committee.

“The version of Trump that has emerged in the month and a half since he left office is far from the political godzilla many expected him to be. He was supposed to unleash hell on a party apparatus that recoiled when his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 and declined to fiercely defend him during his second impeachment. Instead, Trump has maintained close ties to GOP officials who have committed to supporting incumbents, stayed almost entirely out of the spotlight, delivered fairly anodyne remarks the one time he emerged, and offered only sparse criticism of his successor, Joe Biden.”

It’s a fine read on a bleary first morning of DST. Made my first thought: Rudderless Republicans. We really need to get that trending, BTW.

Color me surprised. All this time I considered LDN a lazy, ignorant slug. Turns out he’s a stupid, incompetent dumb-ass.

    I demand partial credit!

  3. There is no apparatus, no structure and part of that is due to a lack of political understanding on Trump’s behalf

That pretty well describes his entire political career….

He’s quiet because they took away his Twitter bullhorn.

That was his drug and his skinner box. Tweet out shit at 2 AM and the world paid attention to him every day, and he could just tap those keys and get more any time he wanted. Junkie Paradise.

Schmoozing with the dwindling coteirie of sycophants at Merde a Lardo, calling in to OANN, and sending out press releases and announcements on his new “Office of President That Former Guy” stationery is like trying to substitute weak instant decaf for cocaine.

From his lack of appearances I even suspect they’re all “New Phone, Who Dis?” at Fox News. Does Hannity even call him any more? Does it matter if he does?

I hope every single minute of his post-WhiteHouse life is a slow, relentless, inexorable realization that he’s never going to be that powerful ever again in his life and all he has to look forward to is ruin, loneliness and oblivion as everything that sustained him is taken away piece by agonizing piece until he dies, alone, unheralded, unwatched, a nobody who long ago was somebody for a minute.
Not that I’m bitter or anything….

“trying to substitute weak instant decaf for cocaine.” I can only imagine the pains of withdrawal that he must be going through. I can also imagine that his withdrawals will produce much hatred for those that took away his “precious”. His downfall is necessary for the good of the country itself. He must not prosper from his treason.

Ask me if I’m surprised. We said all along: He’s not an evil genius, he’s not a canny pol, he’s not even a garden-variety politician. And he certainly isn’t a successful businessman. He’s a personality.Take him offstage (and offTwitter), and all he can do is thrash, or wander around waiting to be invited back onstage. Plus he’s physically lazy and intellectually inert. This “Godzilla” prediction is just more cultic wishful thinking.

Too bad the 45th & 19th POTUS is not affected by our reality. He and his 74M cult followers live in their own little world and do not listen to or care for these remarks.

Yesterday’s news…The mainstream press convinced themselves that Trump, their biggest revenue generator in decades, would continue to produce the goods. Talk about self-delusion. Let him act up all he wants- it is boring now, and there is nothing so certain to send the great American public looking for a new object of their obsession. By 2024, he is going to be as inspiring to Republican voters as George W. Bush.

The less attention paid (to anything/anyone) the less power it can wield.
    The left’s revulsion/hatred is what fuels the far-right’s love/passion.
TFG is grifting, nothing more, any attention paid is money in his pockets.

    Howdy y’all!

Politico reporters are surprised that Trump hasn’t pivoted to being more presidential in retirement after failing to pivot to being more presidential in the four years he was in office? Really?
