The End of a Neera*

Joe Manchin gets his wish!

NBC News:

WASHINGTON — The White House is withdrawing Neera Tanden’s nomination to lead the Office of Management and Budget, marking the first major personnel defeat for President Joe Biden.

Tanden ran into trouble after Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., came out against her, citing overtly partisan statements that he said would have a toxic and detrimental impact on the working relationship between Congress and the influential budget office.

We keep saying it: If one wants a Democratic Senate, one must elect MORE Democrats. You want to punish him, do it AFTER we have a majority in the upper house and not until then because if Manchin wasn’t in the WV Senate seat, someone even further Right would be, and the gavel would be in amply be-chinned Mitch McConnell’s leathery paw.

Manchin is a king-maker because he can be.

*Thank you! You’ve been great! Try the veal!

  1. Iy’s funny since he had no problem with Rick Grennell’s overt partisanship for DNI, or Mick Mulvaney’s overt partisanship for the same damned office.

I wonder, I wonder just what the difference between Neera and them are?

Old white guys, as well as Manchin’s daughter, the CEO (I think) of Merck who Tanden had the gall to criticize for jacking up the price of Epipens. This is petty revenge on Manchin’s part, plain and simple.

Yes, this is true: Manchin’s daughter is the CEO who jacked-up the price of the epipens. I read that last night, and promptly for got it. Thanks Martine for the reminder that all politics is eff’ing hyperlocal.

Manchin is a walking argument for the ridiculous division of Virginia.

All the divided states, they’re rigged to favor the NAZIs and Confederates.

I hear you and agree. Were it not for Manchin’s corporate GOP lite approach, we’d have a Republican in his seat. Much worse and dangerous. I hate that Tanden was the sacrifice needed to appease the dogs who are mad that women, and particularly women of color, are speaking up and demanding their rightful place in the government, etc.

i was on her side but i have to agree with taking her name off the table. all the ‘she was mean to me’ was becoming a distraction for the rest of the biden agenda, especially the relief bill’s passage. sorry she became the sacrificial calf (not to be confused with cpac’s golden jackass, mind you) but i’m fairly sure prez joe can find a place for her that doesn’t require congressional ‘blessing’.
