News That Will Drive You To Drink

Happy Hour News

Elaine Chao tells us what it is like to be married to amply be-chinned #MoscowMitch.

We got an extra helping of Claim Chowder:

“The Transportation Department’s inspector general asked the Justice Department in December to consider a criminal investigation into what it said was Elaine Chao’s misuse of her office as transportation secretary in the Trump administration to help promote her family’s shipping business, which is run by her sister and has extensive business ties with China.”

“The inspector general said the Justice Department’s criminal and public integrity divisions both declined to take up the matter in the closing weeks of the Trump administration, even after the inspector general found repeated examples of Ms. Chao using her staff and her office to help benefit her family and their business operations and revealed that staff members at the agency had raised ethics concerns.”

You mean that the Transportation Secretary with an obvious conflict of interest as a member of a family-owned shipping concern was somehow not on the level! Whoddathunk it! I mean, besides everybody.

She’s been an obvious crook since the beginning and no one wanted to touch her because of  being Mrs. #MoscowMitch. We started calling her out back in Chimpy’s Reign of Error, and we were correct then, too. Also.

Hate to say it, but Elaine just took the opportunity to Chao down when the grift bowl became available. Pretty standing operating procedure for those in power during the Trump regime…

I don’t think the statute of limitations has run on this.

And nothing will happen in 3… 2… 1…

    Business as usual.

I begin every semester in my undergraduate ethics classes with a warning that we will see many examples of unethical behavior in our brief time together. I warn that these are not representative of business at large, they are just the examples that stick out. Most business is conducted in an ethical and legal manner, because to do otherwise would create more problems than it is worth. Moreover, people are, by and large, moral and ethical in their daily lives. The cases we discuss are outliers.

It gets harder every year to say that. I may, sadly, amend it this year.

Fuck these people. I hate them. And I hate that they make me feel hate.

Moscow Mitch: “Uh Don? Mr preznit. I’ll gladly go along with anything and everything you have in mind, in order to MAGA, but you have to give my wife a job. She’s constantly nagging at me, and belittling me, saying I don’t have anywhere near the Powers I claim to, if I can’t get her a highly-placed position in your Cabinet.”
DJT: “A job? What the hell does she want a lousy job for? Is there anything she’s good at?
MM: “Well, her dad owns a shipping co., so maybe something in transportation?
DJT: “Hell, no problem; I’ve got an opening for the Secretary of Transportation. Think she can handle it?”
MM: “She can’t possibly do any worse than most of your other picks…”
DJT: “OK, done. Now, back to that list of federal judges we’re going to stack the courts with, for the 40 – 50 years.”
