Rep. Jamie Raskin has sent a letter to former President Trump requesting he testify under oath "either before or during the Senate impeachment trial about his conduct on January 6."
His lawyers (Dewey, Cheatum & Howe) have already stated that he won’t testify because “publicity stunt” and “unconstitutional.” Would’ve been sweet to watch him incriminate himself six ways from Sunday (even though it ultimately won’t matter because the verdict is a foregone conclusion).
Congressman Raskin must immediately follow up with a formal subpoena, with threats for defiance. Trump’s lawyers say that part of their argument will be that “the 45th President” (they are forbidden by their client from calling him the “former President”) can’t be tried after he was impeached because he is out of office. Trump has appropriated the Presidential Seal for his official letterhead and acts as if he were still President. He can’t have it both ways.
Oh that would be a fabulous day of MUST-SEE C-Span!
Reminder: An impeachment is not a criminal trial…he cannot claim the 5th Amendment, afaik.
Can the Impeachment managers compel witnesses via subpoena?

You KNOW Lord Dampnut would love to be the center of attention again. This must be driving him up his roach-infested wall.
