Rep. Jordan Isn’t Running For Senate, We Wonner Why?

“I know nothing!”

Coatless Rep. Gym Jordan will not run for Rob Portman’s old Senate Seat:

Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican and a fierce Trump defender, won’t run for the US Senate next year to fill the seat of the retiring GOP Sen. Rob Portman, according to a spokesperson for his congressional campaign.

Jordan will instead run for reelection for his US House seat, the spokesperson said.

We’d be remiss if we did not point out that Gym Jordan represents OH-4 congressional district, and OH-13 is where Ohio State University is located. OSU is where Jordan was an assistant coach during the tenure of Richard Strauss, who has been credibly accused of sexually abusing more than 177 men, and of which Jordan was reportedly aware, and yet did nothing.

We’re not saying Jordan is guilty of anything, but it seems likely that he would be confronted with his past if he ran for a national or even state-wide office.

Seems odd to me that our failed political press doesn’t mention that OSU story in these reports of Jordan declining to run.

I’m in Ohio and I believe that Gym’s gory story was revealed some time ago and didn’t have much traction because the Republicans were busy stirring up a parallel controversy somewhere else. I don’t know if it would take off now or not.

Odds aren’t actually in his favor, though, even though Ohio is red. His little pocket of the state is deep red, but there are more purple and blue areas that might not give him the votes he needs. And that suits me just fine.

Here in Dayton, the SW part of the state, we just had our beloved Mayor declare that she would not run again, which opens doors for a possible Governor’s race or maybe even the Senate spot. She’s smart, progressive, and she is unflappable. She guided us through recovery after devastating tornadoes and a mass shooting downtown and she’s been an advocate for racial equality and the working class. I read yesterday that Republican oppo research is being done on her already.

So let Gym be Gym and hopefully he gets buried along the way.

      Donnah –

His district is strangely gerrymandered, like a belt. I think that if he were to try for statewide, the story would definitely replay, and if he has a Democratic opponent, it would be political malpractice if they did not bring it up. I’m also convinced that there are scores of wrestlers who would love to talk about it.

      Just sayin’ he’s boxed in.

Another factor is that Gym’s district is gerrymandered to a fare-thee-well.
