Vocabulary and Terms Are Important, CNN

Our gun is bigger, if you know what I mean and I think you do.

CNN tells us…

US says Capitol rioters intended to ‘capture and assassinate’ elected officials

I’m already pissed off: if they were planning on assassinating elected leaders, that is the very definition of insurrection (a violent uprising against an authority or government; usage: “the insurrection was savagely put down” | “opposition to the new regime led to armed insurrection.”) The style guide says to speak simply, clearly, and say what you mean.

But I digest, continue please:

Federal prosecutors offered the most chilling description yet of rioters who seized the Capitol last week, writing in a new court filing that the intention was “to capture and assassinate elected officials.”

The view was included in a memo seeking to keep Jacob Anthony Chansley, who rallied people inside the Capitol using a bullhorn, in detention. According to Capitol Police information included in the filing, Chansley was notable for his headdress, face paint and carrying of a six-foot spear.

“Strong evidence, including Chansley’s own words and actions at the Capitol, supports that the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States government,” government prosecutors wrote.

And it goes on to discuss Chansley’s self-incriminating actions/evidence:

Prosecutors describe those who took over the Capitol as “insurrectionists” and offer new details about Chansley’s role in the violent siege last week, including that after standing at the dais where Vice President Mike Pence had stood that morning, Chansley wrote a note saying “it’s only a matter of time, justice is coming.”

“Your father is a drunk and your mother is a slut, but I like you” part Chansley’s defense commences:

Chansley later told the FBI he did not mean the note as a threat but said the Vice President was a “child-trafficking traitor” and went on a long diatribe about Pence, Biden and other politicians as traitors.

But this is the bit that dumbfounded me:

Before he was arrested, Chansley told the FBI he wanted to return to Washington for the inauguration to protest.

And CNN moves on to describe the other, now household, name-brand insurrectionists.

Repeat after me, CNN: they are not rioters, and we should note that then the press calls them extremists or even Trump-loving extremists, what they need to say is “Republican Domestic Terrorists.”

  1. Alas, Jeff Zucker will cut off his own dick before admitting that his hugely entertaining rightwing pals are a clear and present danger to this country.

    500 quatloos they’re called “rowdy protesters” a week after Biden’s inauguration…

A bit of an aside here. The pictured gun was designed to hunt waterfowl, and was suppose to be mounted on a mule to slowly creep up on the duck pond. No word on whether any mules survived the blast, but those that did were stubborn cusses. Oh wait, maybe they were just deaf, kinda like the Rethuglicans when asked if they’re responsible for inciting the Coup Klux Klan, and saying what?

They absolutely had murder in their hearts. These crazy motherfuckers have been saying for YEARS that they couldn’t WAIT to spill the blood of their fellow Americans. Liberal, black, brown- whatevs, as long as they get to wave their guns around and kill the people they have judged deserve to die. They have been spoiling for the Civil War Redux. This isn’t over. Next time- more of them will come armed and more blood will be spilled. If the rest of the country doesn’t wake up and do something about these white supremacists, America is over. Land of the free? Home of the brave? Not anymore.

Q Shaman’s Attorneys: “He didn’t assault anyone. He was there at the invitation of our president.”

Prosecutors: “[Insurrectionist] Chansley suffers from mental illness and is a regular drug user…”
