McConnell Does Constituent Service

Moscow Mitch
(H/T Raw Story via Skinny Dennis)

Anyone wondering why amply be-chinned #MoscowMitch would be in favor of #ITMFA need not look very far:

“The challenge by some Republicans to the 2020 election results last week is fueling a rift between the party and big companies and could accelerate changes to the GOP’s fundraising base.

“In the week since more than 100 Republicans objected to the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s win, at least a dozen U.S. corporations said they would reconsider donating money from their political-action committees to lawmakers who sided with President Trump’s challenge to the results.”

Always follow the Ameros with the Coup Klux Klan. #MoscowMitch is only doing what his REAL constituents want.

Hard to take this in a totally bad way.
    1) Take down/out LDN (mayhaps)
    b) Wedge the shit out of the E$tabli$hment -&- MAGAts
iii) Produce a ton of oppo for various R senator’s opponents in 2022 and even 2024
    – ) Even good for generalized spitballing

Pretty much what I thought. Trump was a convenient tool for McConnell in getting courts packed for some time, along with a few other little tidbits for the rabid base. Now that the $$ entities are protesting, McConnell’s just giving them that evil smile, and doing what he can to “fix” things. Whatever. Let’s work to keep him from doing any more damage, except to those like him.

It’s not surprising at all. Mitch has always been a republican 1st and foremost, and part of the Rich People Party at that. This is his opportunity to start shedding the Reptilian party elements when hisuse for them is turning counter productive.

I had heard a few days ago that there was talk of impeaching him now but waiting to send the article(s) to the Senate until 100 days after Biden takes office so that the Senate can vote on his cabinet and other nominees and other parts of his agenda. I was thinking I’d rather see it done sooner than later because I’m afraid after 100 days some of the urgency/outrage over what happened last week will have passed and Republicans will just shrug and say well he’s gone so let’s move on.

But yesterday a friend of mine wondered if McConnell’s making noises about wanting to do impeachment so he can find ways to drag it out and start running out the clock on Biden’s first two years the way he bait-and-switched Obama’s first two years to death. Suddenly this passage from a NYT article seemed ominous:

“On Monday, Mr. Biden telephoned Mr. McConnell to ask whether it was possible to set up a dual track that would allow the Senate to confirm Mr. Biden’s cabinet nominees and hold a Senate trial at the same time, according to officials briefed on the conversation who disclosed it on condition of anonymity. Far from avoiding the topic of impeaching Mr. Trump, Mr. McConnell said it was a question for the Senate parliamentarian, and promised Mr. Biden a quick answer.

David Popp, a spokesman for Mr. McConnell, declined to comment, pointing a reporter to a speech the senator made from the floor after the attack on the Capitol.”

Let me get right back to you! Give me, oh, about six months…

Shirley you jest. Money never has anything to do with decisions being made by conscientious principled constitutional conservatives. Did I leave out any other meaningless adjectives?

I strongly suspect that the main reason Moscow Mitch was happy to have the Dem Reps impeach is simply because it gives him an avenue to obstruct. And in complete reverse of the first Trumpeachment he will insist on investigating and rehashing every little detail and if he can drag this thing out for four years, or at least two if the Rs can take back the Senate, he will be a very happy turtle indeed.
