“I wonner if we’ll see some movie stars, Pa!”
Anway, the YouGov pollsters are already on it!
A YouGov Direct poll of 1,397 registered voters who had heard about the event finds that most (62%) voters perceive these actions as a threat to democracy. Democrats (93%) overwhelmingly see it this way, while most (55%) Independents also agree. Among Republicans, however, only a quarter (27%) think this should be considered a threat to democracy, with two-thirds (68%) saying otherwise.
This is pretty straight forward: Republicans see insurrection and sedition as legitimate means to an end. That end is autocratic rule and strongman authoritarianism. And after seeing eff’ing Confederate Flags in the Capitol, don’t doubt for a moment what this implies for anyone who is not a straight white Christian male. All minorities and women are on notice, and d’uh, this is NOT a drill.
Even Turdblossom agrees:
Pro tip for the FBI: check GOP party registration. You’ll find them all there.
I will keep beating this drum:
- Republicans hate democracy.
- Republicans hate America
- Republicans are the problem
