Stable Jenius

It seems that amongst the many things we can no longer count on (thanks a lot Hair Füror), we need to add The Secret Service (emphasis mine):

“The Secret Service is making some staff changes in the presidential detail that will guard President-elect Joe Biden, amid concerns from Biden allies that some current members were politically aligned with President Trump, according to two people familiar with the changes.

“As Biden readies his new administration, the Secret Service plans to bring back to the White House detail a handful of senior agents whom Biden knows well from their work more than four years ago guarding him and his family when he was vice president.

“Staff changes are typical with the arrival of a new president and are designed to increase the trust and comfort the incoming president feels with his protective agents, who often stand by the president’s side during sensitive discussions and private moments.”

Ummm… our pals at Electoral-Vote have more (emphasis mine):

Donald Trump has spent four-plus years managing to politicize people, organizations, and events that were previously apolitical (like, say, the Census Bureau). And now, it would appear that even the U.S. Secret Service—previously a shining example of apolitical professionalism—is not immune to his influence. USSS officials have announced that the presidential detail is going to be reorganized, with several agents who have worked with Trump being reassigned, and several senior agents who previously worked with Joe Biden being recalled to protective duty.

Needless to say, the USSS does not comment publicly on its personnel decisions. However, it is pretty easy for outsiders to put the pieces together. There have been a number of concerns this year that some agents had yielded too fully to Trump’s influence (for example, not wearing masks when they should have been doing so). Most obviously, Agent Anthony Ornato not only went maskless, he also took a leave from the USSS to work for Trump coordinating rallies. The mask rebels in general, and Ornato in particular, are the ones being reassigned to non-presidential duty. So, again, it’s obvious what’s going on.

It is less clear exactly how “Trump” guys might be expected to underperform if assigned to Biden. Like, would they refuse to take a bullet for a Democrat? It is also unclear how, in effect, swapping out “Trump guys” for “Biden guys” really solves the problem of the USSS becoming politicized. In any event, it’s a reminder that the Donald’s fingerprints are all over everything in Washington, and will remain so for some time after he leaves town.

  1. No, this is “one more perfectly normal thing turned into a freakout because ETTD” not some weird political thing. In a normal election year this very same thing would happen, especially for a former Vice President, who would naturally want the people he or she has worked with in the past.

( And I CANNOT believe how FUCKING GOOD it feels to say the words “Vice President” and “he or she” in the same sentence that is non-fictional! )

I suppose that in this day and age, it’s not so surprising. I kinda thought the Secret Service weeded out those kinds of people, to begin with. I can imagine a guy polishing his nails while the President takes a bullet personally. “Oopsy.”
So another Government agency has been infected with tRump toadys.
I wish we could charge Donny for damages, on his way out the door.

Secret Service, Post Office, Census Bureau, FDA, USDA: Any Trump appointee or new hire needs to be fired immediately upon Biden being sworn in. If you got your job after 2017, I suspect you of being

To continue- a Trump supporter since no one else could get jobs. They all need to be gone or reassigned pending investigation.

It’s amazing that any Secret Service agent would take a bullet for trump since they’ve seen him in all his unfiltered glory. It’s also amazing they would be trumpers since he’s such an obvious piece of shit.
