The Deficit Hawks Return to Old San Juan

Republicans Hard At Work

Just like the swallows returning to San Juan Capistrano, so too have the Deficit Hawks returned to Wingnuttia after gorging at the public trough:

The Hill:

Republicans are preparing to reembrace their inner deficit hawks after greenlighting big spending bills under President Trump

GOP senators say they expect to refocus on curbing the nation’s debt and reforming entitlement programs starting in 2021, as the Congressional Budget Office estimates that the debt has surpassed the size of the American economy.

This is their usual mode of operations: When in Power, cut taxes on corporations and rich people; when out of power, destroy the safety net and screw poor people.

There seems to be a flaw in the definitions of “in power” vs. “out of power”.

Yep; “but the budget deficit is out of control, so we can’t agree to that!!!”. The GOP has devolved to the point where an ordinary left-leaning doofus like me (and you) can easily predict what they will do and say. Despicable.

We simply cannot afford these social programs right now. Sure, everybody wants to live in a utopia, but since no country has ever figured out how to make socialized healthcare work it’s clearly impossible. If we cut taxes on corporations, however, it will (somehow) increase revenue to the point that we can actually afford these programs! The only reason it has never worked before is because we did not cut them low enough. (If you cut corporate taxes to 0, you actually make infinite money. Math!) We dutifully keep cutting these taxes, yet somehow the economy keeps crashing right before a Democrat takes office. We’ll have to figure out why some day.

Once we manage to increase revenue, our only objection to helping out non-rich people will be moral or ethical considerations like fuck you, that’s why.

    • Cut corporate taxes to 0?

HAH! I’ll go one better, cut them to MINUS 20%! Meatbag-Americans should be proud to sacrifice for their Corporation-American masters!

(after all, let’s make the whole thing explicit: we’ve been paying corporations to not pay taxes for decades…)

“Yep, someday we might get the calculations right. Then the economy will crash right after a Democrat takes office. Yep.”

The crashing economy is the only reason that a party who regularly wins the popular vote by millions is even able to take the Whitehouse by a margin of 5,000 out of work voters in Pennsylvania. If Republicans ever get the trickle down formula right so the economy crashes in January instead of over the summer, we’re fucked.

Well the good news is it’s a sure sign that they know Trump lost the election.

Mitch started his deficit speech l a few months after they got their looted money. I really hope we are able to take the two GA seats. I’d love to have Harris be the deciding vote and watch the R’s heads explode with all the racist, women hating rage they can muster.
