Electoral Vote
I support this. Using the electric chair for all the former Trump administration grifters likely to be convicted of treason would run up an excessive electric bill.

Does he REALLY want to do that? I mean, treason is a firing squad offense….

That’s what I was thinking .
Be fun if Uncle Joe wound up commuting his butt…

I am just going to say without joking that this is both absurd and terrifying. A firing squad? What the actual fuck?

Cruelty is the point, and he wants to watch.

There is no way he’d watch. He’s a coward, and there would be blood involved.

Right wingnut ammosexuals have been howling to bring back the firing squad for years and years. Utah has had it as an approved method all along.

“Earlier this year, an Ohio lawmaker proposed using some of the illegal fentanyl seized from drug traffickers to execute condemned inmates.”
“In 2017, Nebraska and Nevada announced they would use fentanyl, which is 100 times more powerful than morphine, in new multi-drug execution protocols.”
By 2018, the U.S. Justice Department was also examining the “use of fentanyl as part of a lethal injection protocol,” according to a three-page internal memorandum from March 2018 by the director of the department’s Bureau of Prisons.
The Justice Department revealed the memo’s existence in an August court filing after a federal judge ordered it to produce a complete “administrative record” showing how it arrived at the new pentobarbital execution protocol announced in July.
The full contents of the memo are not public. It is not known why the department decided to examine fentanyl, what supply channels were considered or why it ultimately rejected fentanyl as a protocol. The government’s court filing shows the only other named drug examined as the subject of a department memo was pentobarbital, the drug it now says it wants to use in December and January to kill five of the 61 prisoners awaiting execution on federal death row.”

MY conclusion? It’s “too humane” to use for this purpose. It kills quite quickly, so fast, in fact, that the person being executed is not aware they’re dying. They succumb immediately to unconsciousness and stop breathing.
Pentobarbital, on the other hand, is almost medieval in its tortuous slowness, as the prisoner is quite aware he is slowly receding from consciousness, and has more and more difficulty breathing, often causing them to struggle and gasp for air for up to ten agonizing minutes.
But that’s the whole point, isn’t it? To be somewhat barbaric, to demonstrate that we kill people who kill people, to show the rest of the people that killing people is wrong.

Obviously he likes the cruelty aspect of it. Like separating children from their parents.
As Dennis mentioned above there are legitimate questions about how peaceful our lethal injection is for the subjects. To observers, it looks peaceful because they use a powerful muscle relaxant that prevents any movement or facial expression that might give a hint to what the subject is experiencing. It’s all for the benefit of observers — we can tell ourselves well that was peaceful.
I’m not an advocate of the death penalty, but I have sometimes thought well if we’re going to do it, why don’t we just mount a rifle on a chair that shoots you in the back of the head at point blank range? It’d be messy and it would be ugly, but it would be a very sudden death with no suffering. A firing squad is a different matter. But if we’re going to execute people, let’s not play games trying to make it look less ugly than it is.

A favorite method of the KGB, minus the chair.

If I was on Death Row, and my execution was imminent, and I was asked if I had a preferred method to choose from, I would select “Overdose by Repeated Administrations of THC.”
Guaran-goddamn-tee ya that “The Condemned Man ate SEVERAL hearty meals, before officials discerned they’d been duped” would be the headline in the local daily fishwrap.

And the reason they can’t/won’t use Heroin is because it’s a Schedule 1 narcotic.
“Schedule 1 drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Some examples of Schedule I drugs are:
heroin, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), marijuana (cannabis), 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy), methaqualone, and peyote
So – “No currently accepted medical use” means it can’t be used in a medically-supervised lethal injection. You would just kind of float off in a cloud, and then lose consciousness, and then undergo respiratory arrest, calmly and without any suffering.
And don’t let the gov’t tell you that it’s just not available; I’m sure that Bayer Labs, who originally refined Heroin from Morphine hasn’t lost the recipe, and could produce enough to satisfy the demand for it as an approved lethal-injection drug, unless they had a “moral objection” to doing so.
But I bet we could always ask the Taliban, or even some of the Afghani warlords whose crops we’ve been protecting all these years, if they had a bit to spare. From what I’ve been hearing, there’s a glut of Heroin on today’s market, due to the economic downturn related to the Virus, and they’re desperate to sell. Hell make it part of the “Peace Negotiations” we’re still having, as we slowly withdraw (swidt?) from the region, since it’s currently a “buyer’s market,” and we could swing a really good deal.
(Just don’t bother the CIA with any queries on it – you know they’ll deny knowing anything about it.)

Sounds like the same reason my uncle was cut off from the morphine that he’d been prescribed to help him tolerate his terminal and very painful illness.
He might get addicted.
