This is pretty good, and in some ways reminded me of the AIDS quilt of long ago. The little white flags are more anonymous and less colorful, but unlike the quilt, you don’t get distracted by the messages, you focus on the volume.
Also: the symbolism of the white flag of surrender is… well, wait for it.
Related: more people in the 4th Reich have contracted the Trump-Virus. Tiger Beat on the Potomac (thanks Charlie) morning email thingie:
BLOOMBERG’S JEN JACOBSscooped Friday night that White House chief of staff MARK MEADOWS had the novel coronavirus. We were poking around on this story much of Friday, and we bring that up only to make this point: Several people who had been in direct contact with MEADOWS were not told he had the virus.
Meadows informed a close circle of advisers just after the election. He knew.
ANOTHER HIGH-PROFILE MEMBER OF THE PRESIDENT’S circle tested positive: GOP Rep. MATT GAETZ of Florida told multiple people on Capitol Hill and in the White House that he too had contracted the virus. GAETZ and his staff did not reply to a request for comment.
The WaPo Reports that Meadows might be unto hisself a super-spreader:
“On Election Day, Meadows visited the Trump campaign headquarters in Arlington, where he was photographed not wearing a mask.”
“Meadows was also among those in the East Room of the White House when Trump gave remarks around 3 a.m. Wednesday to a crowd of about 150 of his top aides, donors and allies, as well as family members. During that event, Meadows worked the room extensively, without a mask, speaking to dozens. He stood near Trump campaign adviser Corey Lewandowski, one of the few people there who was wearing a mask.”
I cannot say this often enough: the damn Trump-Virus does not discriminate. It doesn’t care if you are rich and powerful, or just an average dude. It makes no difference if your aunt is the nicest person in the world, or the smartest: if you are not sheltering in place with these people, you don’t know who THEY have been exposed to.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are going to be deadly disasters. Cancel your plans, don’t go, and don’t invite. This is a pandemic.
