MI Gov. Whitemer (on MTP):

“You know it’s — it’s incredibly disturbing that the president of the United States, 10 days after a plot to kidnap, put me on trial and execute me — 10 days after that was uncovered, the president is at it again and inspiring and incentivizing and inciting this kind of domestic terrorism. It is wrong. It’s got to end.

“It is dangerous, not just for me and my family, but for public servants everywhere who are doing their jobs and trying to protect their fellow Americans. People of goodwill on both sides of the aisle need to step up and call this out and bring the heat down. This is the United States of America. We do not tolerate actions like he is giving comfort to, and that’s why we all have to be in this together.”

I’m not in the habit of correcting potential victims of domestic terrorism, but I’d like the governor to explain the both sides of the aisle comment. It seems to me only one the Republican of the aisle has been silent on calling out Trump’s demands for insurrection, extrajudicial executions, vengeance, etc.,  but maybe I missed it.

Our side of the aisle is already complaing (her — and you). Well chosen words, if you don’t need to directly call out the Rethuglicans, who happen to control both houses of the Michigan state legislature (at least for now).

She’s giving them the opportunity to include themselves in “people of good will”, and looking past the election, when she could probably still use their help.

Given the state of the Michigan Rethuglican party, it’s certainly a waste of time. They’re eliminationist by nature.

Depending on the spoken tone, this might mean “Hey, Republicans, why are Democrats the only party calling this out?” Or it could be the way you heard it.
