Everything Counts

Here Lies American Democracy

Axios Alert:

Supreme Court allows Trump administration to halt Census count

The Supreme Court on Tuesday approved the Trump administration’s emergency application to stop Census field operations early while litigation over the once-a-decade count continues in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Why it matters: Civil rights groups fear that cutting off field operations now could lead to an undercount, which would affect how congressional seats are reapportioned.

(Scissorhead D-Cap notes, succinctly, that this ruling is the Supreme Court saying that minorities don’t count. And I will add: Literally.)

It’s a new way to steal elections if you can disappear the people from being represented. Next count will be in 10 years, and so yes, this is a big deal. Expect big states to “lose” some congressional seats.

Treasonous stupid sumbitch is destroying democracy by every trick he can. WHEN – oh, WHEN will someone give him

What angers me is that Sotomayor is apparently the only one who dissented. What about Breyer and Kagan? Did they not think democracy was worth saving?
