VP Debate Night!

Debate Night!

Against all odds –and probably better judgement– tonight brings us the 2020 Goat Rodeo Vice Presidential Debate. Sen. Kamala Harris and walking termite buffet VP Mike Pence will be taking the stage this tonight at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

And the eff’ery is already moving in full-bore! (see what I did there?)

Mike Pence and Kamala Harris will stand 12 feet, 3 inches apart, and yesterday they were arguing about plexiglass partitions. Harris, being sane, is for it. Pence being a toady who is playing to an audience of one, was opposed. So at some point, Harris was going to get her plexi and Pence was going to get his, um, no-plexi, toxic masculinity wins another round!

Anyway, someone whispered something in his head and once the echoes subsided, Pence announced he would have plexi too/also.

I’ve read in the press that Harris has been practicing and that Mayor Pete was standing in for Pence (draw your own conclusions, but we’re giving a +1 psychological warfare bonus to Harris for that and Mikey probably got another shock from the ol’ cilize controlled by Mother).

Pence, not to be outdone, was practicing with Ursula, er, former FL AG Pam Bondi. We don’t know why.

Tonight’s moderator is USA Today‘s Washington Bureau chief Susan Page, of whom I know nothing. But as USA Today is known more for their often funny graphs than news, I have no idea what to expect from her, but I expect the usual treachery from the Media who really want a horse race.

Easy peasy, It was for the AG after her name. After all, one woman is pretty much like another, ammirite? So Bondi AG will give perfectly adequate practice for a debate with a real AG.

The plexi screens are a joke. I hope Kamala brings an electric fan and aims it at Pence.

  5. I don’t know from Susan Page either, but I can step up a bit on behalf of USAToday. I live in central North Jersey – yes, the municipal airport that admitsTrump to violate our soil and endanger the good people of Bedminster is a 10 min drive from our house – in a historically Republican county mostly of the old country-club type, but also with well-established patches of diversity and Dems.

The local paper was for decades the property of a local conservative publishing family, but after a couple transfers of ownership in the 80s, it was bought by Gannett and became affiliated with the USAToday Network. The result is really interesting – a partnerish approach rather than a takeover. In short, the local rag that everyone called The Daily Wretched is now referred to, by my household anyway, as the Daily Worker. Pro-Trump they ain’t. USAToday’s editorial influence maybe, but if not, they’re certainly not interfering.
