(UPDATED) GOP’s Trump-Virus Politics, Explained

This quote says a lot about the GOP’s bizarre insistence on doubling-down on the politics of the Trump-Virus:

“Elite Republicans have trouble accepting that they cannot purchase a reprieve from this pandemic — in part because a foundational premise of the elite Republican worldview is that the wealthy can always buy immunity from whatever befalls the herd.”

It’s not that they think they are immune, they think they can buy their way into safety. And that explains this:

No one he knows or cares about is impacted, so eff the suckers and losers who are.

UPDATE 1: Axios Alert!

Several Trump advisers are utterly perplexed by the president’s decision today to pull Republicans out of coronavirus stimulus negotiations.

  • “You have to try to be this politically inept,” a campaign adviser told Axios’ Jonathan Swan. “What is going on in the White House? Where is Mark Meadows?”
  • One GOP lawmaker told Axios’ Alayna Treene that this is “a gift” for Pelosi.

And the GOP herd apparently just obeys. If they have the issues with it that those quoted indicate, they should grow a spine of their own. Even though they seem incapable of doing the right thing, they used to be able to do the expedient thing.

Don’t you love that happy feeling you get watching people who never gave a shit about anything but money; who discover they desperately need something money can’t buy?

“They’re not really MY people, anyway; I mean, out of the 200,000 or so who’ve died, how many donated $1 million or more to me? To my campaign? See? They’re just “little people,” they don’t count, really, in the overall scheme of things. It’s just a statistic, anyway, just another number.” *

*NOT an exact tRump quote, but you could HEAR him saying that, couldn’t you?
