The Passage of the Day

Time Magazine:

“…This matters not just because of what these voters believe but also because of what they don’t. The facts that should anchor a sense of shared reality are meaningless to them; the news developments that might ordinarily inform their vote fall on deaf ears. They will not be swayed by data on coronavirus deaths, they won’t be persuaded by job losses or stock market gains, and they won’t care if Trump called America’s fallen soldiers ‘losers’ or ‘suckers,’ as the Atlantic reported, because they won’t believe it. They are impervious to messaging, advertising or data. They aren’t just infected with conspiracy; they appear to be inoculated against reality.”

It’s worth the time to read this article.

It’s almost like morons minds have been ruined by the daily abuse of Newt, Rush and Fox.

Huh, who would have thought? Come for the racism, stay for the brain damage.

  2. The aide said that guys like me were ‘in what we call the reality-based community,’ which he defined as people who ‘believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.’ […] ‘That’s not the way the world really works anymore,’ he continued. ‘We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do’.

    It ain’t new.

I think it was Obama who said “You can choose your own opinion, but you can’t choose your own facts”. However that is exactly what has been happening; people have felt free to choose their own facts and feel supported in doing so for years now, they’ve been given “alternative facts” daily. Its disturbing, that is some toothpaste that I fear may be impossible to get back in the tube.

There was that post, I think it was Infidel, where the lady in Trump country was saying all they care about is “Fuck liberals”. That seems more to the point.
They literally don’t care about reality. They care about “fuck liberals”.

“In all fairness, we should recognize that lying is sadly not uncommon for politicians on both sides of the political aisle, ”
      O FFS! What a rag.
Both siderism right in the pages of Psychology Today! It’s akin to the media swerving sharp right when accused of being left wing, thus eliminating actual factual style of reporting.
Also, the first “type” (Practicality over morality) mentions the wealthy, who would have to be perfectly happy to live in a third world country as long as they are on the top for this to be actually practical, and blue collar workers buying lies that LDN’s bringing jobs back from China, and people afraid of open borders which is only a thing because of other LDN lies.
I rate this paper a C+; the author put in some research but should have reported the findings with more accurate wording rather than sneaking biases in.
