Goin’ to Sturgis!
We said this would happen and now it has:
States Report Coronavirus Cases Linked To Sturgis, S.D., Motorcycle Rally
More than two weeks after nearly half a million bikers flocked to South Dakota, the tally of coronavirus infections traced back to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally has surpassed 260, an estimate that is growing steadily as more states report cases and at least one death.
At least 12 states have turned up cases linked to the 10-day event…
South Dakota’s Republican governor, Kristi Noem – a strong ally of President Trump — encouraged people to attend the rally, despite warnings it could seed outbreaks in her state and across the country.
Noem has resisted pandemic precautions like requiring people to wear masks while in public or limiting large gatherings. In the last few weeks, South and North Dakota have emerged as coronavirus hot spots with the highest rates of new cases per capita in the country.
We find no joy in being right, this time.
Ain’t ussens in SD lucky ??

One in Michigan has died, and I’m sure the Covidiots will all point to “He had prexistin’ conditshuns, hurr durr” without acknowledging that he was fit enough to ride his hog from Michigan to SD and back…
(or more likely, “drive his big-ass pick-me-up truck towing the trailer with his hog on it to about 5 miles outside of Sturgis, park the thing, then ride in like a boss from there”. [spit] poser.
I say that as a proud member of the Iron Butt club, earned my membership the day we rode from southern Colorado to just over the Iowa border in Illinois because we got chased by a frikking storm front all the way. We got into the state park at 3 AM after have left CO at about 6 AM. I still don’t know how my companion did it…I was at least riding my Motoguzzi touring bike; she was riding her Honda 350…)

Minnesota, not Michigan, it turns out: https://apnews.com/caad0620f9d24506bf5e8629045d9218 but the rest of my comment holds but it’s a much shorter ride

I just feel sorry for the barmaids, strippers, and booth babes who were financially compelled to work the event.

Essential workers, all of ’em, and I’m not being snarky. Even in non-pandemic time I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with the public for a living.
