Knock Me Down With A Nasal Swab!

The Center for Disease Control is no longer recommending a 14-day quarantine for travelers, and it is also no longer advising those without symptoms to be tested, even if they have been in contact with an infected person.

Dr. Fauci told CNN he was undergoing surgery when the White House task force met to discuss the updated guidelines.

We’ve seen that playbook before, when during the Chimpy Reign of Error AG John Ashcroft had some surgery and Alberto Gonzales (and James Comey, let’s not forget!) tried to get authorization to do some warrantless wiretapping eff’ery.

I would say effing unbelievable, except that with Trump it’s all too believable. There’s just no bottom here.

    • He’s been yelling ti at the top of his lungs for months now “Slow down the testing!” becuse clearly if you don’t test you have no cases and people don’t die…

Or if they die they’re not real or they died of something else, or they’re “crisis actors”….

“Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”

It’s appalling but not surprising that Trump and his team bullied the CDC, a once-respected branch of scientific and medical research, to whimper and tuck tail about the Covid testing. Dr Fauci must be livid about this, because they finally have undermined his authority and expertise to make the damage done by the virus seem less devastating and to attempt to take the threat of more deaths off the table before the election.

It’s crystal clear that Trump is doing everything he can to erase the virus from the political landscape. People will believe him because they want it to be true. But he’ll just get more people killed.

It’s going to be kind of hard for the son of a bitch to erase over 175,000 dead. My bet is that we may top 200,000 by election day. That’s something of an achievement.

Comey refused to reauthorize a component of Bush’s secret surveillance program and Gonzals tried to go around him and went to Ashcroft’s bedside, Comey got there about the same time and Ashcroft sided with Comey.

CDC Director Robert “Abe Lincoln beard starter-kit aficionado” Redfield walked back the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations that asymptomatic people do not need to be tested for coronavirus even if they’d been exposed.

I read somewhere that the virus seems to run its course in 10 days. So the change to 14 days of quarantine could be legitimate. Trust this administration to interpret the data however they want to, though.
