The Week in Review

Sometimes I like to recap the week on Crooks and Liars, and so here for your pleasure are the links. Each day-of-the-week is linked to the actual post and it would be nice if everyone visited the posts to give C&L a little linky-luv.

By the way, I think Disaster Party is becoming my 2020 Anthem.

Monday:

Greetings fellow Crooks and Liars! Our disaster party morning round-up comes to us special delivery as the USPS is being disassembled before our eyes. Here’s a recent USPS collection box map so you can find the friendly blue mail boxes nearest you; mine is literally pad-locked.

Viral Ranting presents The Oligarch Agenda

40 Years in The Desert notes that Prznint Stupid is saying the quiet parts out loud.

The Psy of Life is pleading with us to call our representatives and gives us our instructions!

Bonus Track: Massive Enormity writes a poem.

Tuesday:

As I write this, the virtual DNC has not started yet. We still have a long way to go in the 2020 Goat Rodeo, but we’ve already come really far. Let’s keep it up, not just because we have so much to lose, but because we have so much to win.

The Immoral Minority notices Prznint Stupid has paid a lot of money for counter-programming during the DNC that probably no one is going to notice.

Zandar Versus The Stupid sees an orange meltdown.

It’s not Breaking Bad, but the dialog gregfallis writes has that je ne sais quoi going for it…

Bonus Track: Colossal recreates “2001: A Space Odyssey” for our age of quarantine.

Off the beaten path: Why, it seems like only yesterday that the original anti-Trump Seattle protest happened, but actually it was 4-years ago today. The power of art!

Wednesday:

Last night’s DNC was pretty great, right? Powerful women saying powerful things, and as it was on the eve of the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment, Eva Longoria Bastón wearing symbolically important Suffragette white was not just a coinkydink. Today we look at the state of women in our political process.

By Hook or By Book reminds us that 100 years later, not all women are treated equally.

I’ll Call It Like I See It tells us about how women –even Kamala Harris– are still told that they are out of their lane.

And speaking of staying in your lane, Jezebel tell us the story of an older woman cycling champion was stripped of her record for taking menopause medications. We’ve still got a long way to go.

Bonus Track: OG blogger Rants from the Rookery gives us the empowerment meme we need.

Thursday:

As the DNC continues to chug along with the delightful unconventional convention, other news continues to break. We’re very luck that our bloggers today are watching it all for us. It’s a mad world.

Hackwhackers reminds us that we still gotta pandemic going on and Team Evil still have some nasty surprises in store for us.

The Rectification of Names dives deeply into the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence report on Russian active measures in the 2016 election.

Stinque reads Conrad, but finds no solace.

Bonus Track: NotionsCapital says to put a mask on it. And if you love gizmos and tinkering the vid will make your day.

Friday:

As I write this, we have not yet had the Thursday DNC Un-Convention and the acceptance speech from VP Joe Biden, but Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were pretty great. Makes me believe in miracles.

Crazy Eddie’s Motie News sends us a Special Delivery on the latest eff’ery from Postmaster General DeJoy.

Strangely Blogged makes the headline of the day.

Daily Sound and Fury tells us about the time Prznint Stupid claimed to have magical powers. I can haz the 25th Amendment now?

Bonus Track: Because we’re all about the music, Open Culture gives us the history of the classic surf rock anthem: Wipe Out. So boss!

Saturday:

Today we are hand-delivering the Round-Up because we cannot trust Postmaster General DeJoy to do his actual job, not destroying the USPS and democracy.

You Might Notice A Trend: Even the Postperson Knows The GOP Is Committing Fraud

Lawyers, Guns & Money declare that the rats have already been eff’ed.

Liberals Are Cool wants everyone to pressure the USPS Board of Governors. Good idea!

What Would Jack Do says it’s time for good and decent people to face down the bullies holding America back.

Bonus Track: Our language evolves! Fritinancy looks at emerging words in our pandemic times in a post she calls, “Coronacoinages.” Learn them, use them!

Sunday (Today!):

What a week we had! The DNC hit it outta the park with an all-star Un-Convention, the Russian Usurper continued his chicanery, we tried to save the USPS, and the deadly Trump-Virus marches on. Thanks to the help of 28+ bloggers we kept tabs on it all. Anyone who says blogging is dead needs to spend more time here at Crooks and Liars.

Income inequality is on our minds. Eclectablog says Joe Biden has the best plan since the New Deal.

Politicians are Poodyheads presents: Postmaster Devil!

Shower Cap’s Blog recaps the week as only he can, and Green Eagle gives us the Wingnut Wrap-up!

Bonus Track: On the Twitters, Historian Kevin M. Kruse imagines the RNC’s roll call vote next week. Fact Check: True!

Thank you for letting me be part of your week. I hope to be back soon!

Hard to imagine a song that seems more relevant right now. I am so happy to share a new beautiful version by my dear friend Curt Smith of @Tears For Fears Youtube with his daughter Diva recorded for us from their quarantine life in LA.
